Werent we supposed to be recieving ballots for Agenda for Change from the RCN last week, I thought they were coming out on the 5th.

Does anyone feel that they have enough information to make a definite decision yet?

I still havent got my head around how the new unsocial hours payments will work or how my role as an RNMH will be evaluated or if any of my ''non clinical'' roles will be taken into account.....

Really I havent got a grip on it at all so who knows what I'll do with my vote:confused:

The scary thing is I seem to be the only one at work who knows about or cares about AfC, the first some of our nurses knew about it was when they recieved the info from the RCN last week:eek:

No ballot papers yet, but then the Govt hasn't issued the rest of the 400 job evaluations eg. for CPN's

Unsocial hours is easy, you get 30% now, 60% Sun& bank holidays, with a4c you get 25% max, depending how many UH's on average you work in the 13 weeks before the relevant pay period. Not forgetting that the actual hours specified as unsocial are different. Or something!

nope but then I wont get a pay rise so .............

as a nurse working in general practice I am not included in the pay deal stuff! ok the RCN are working on it but they are not very effective at times! so I will vote but with gritted teeth!

Got the papers yesterday morning.

Will probably vote yes.

I still don't like the way they are going to pay unsocial hours payment, but will accept the whole package as it looks like will probably better of in the long run.

I finally got mine as well, guess I'll be voting 'yes' although Im not sure why. It looks like a better deal, except the unsocial hours, I think I'll lose out on that one.

I think its wrong that they're asking us to vote on something we have so little information about, I still have no idea how my role will be evaluated. Wouldnt it be a better idea to hold the vote until after the pilot so people get a better idea of how its going to go in reality?

I agree the vote would probably better after the pilot is established so as to find out in real terms if this going to work out.

I think they are relying on everyone being interested enough to read the 138 page document they have produced to try and explain what is going to happen.

As for who allocates who to what band, my understanding it is your line manager that does the initial allocation and if you are unhappy you then appeal and independant person will then review the arguements to decide if the right band is allocated.

Really? I didnt think the decision was going to be made at local level, although when I think about it Im not sure who I thought was going to do the evaluations.

This doesnt bode well for me then as my line manager was one of the people who didnt know what I was talking about when I mentioned AfC :uhoh21:

Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait and see....

the jobs have been profiled nationally so everyone who does a similar job fits into the same profile. A lot will depend on how your manager intreprets your job and then fits it into the appropriate profile for you to recieve the appropriate band.

It would be nice if they did this well before the Oct 2004 impliementation date so everyone will know what scale they are on, but i bet they won't

Lets see, 3.225% per year for three years..... Inflation currently 2.5% and a 1% tax rise in the pipeline for April 1st. Maybe I'll vote against a pay cut for this year, in spite of all the "jam tomorrow"!

I only just got my papers this am! Nice to be getting a vote even if I won't get paid for another year and a half, (hopefully)
