heck...there were legislators and leaders proclaiming that these refugee children had everything from ebola to dengue fever and were putting the health of the entire nation at risk.

It's been my experience, and validated by the Colorado Department of Health report that just came out, that areas heavily populated by Latino immigrants have a much HIGHER vaccine rate. The neighborhoods in Denver that are populated by hipsters and educated WASPs are the neighborhoods that have a much lower vaccine rate.

Blaming the resurgence of vaccine-preventable illnesses on immigrants is disingenuous as well as a total red herring.

In my state as well, there are far more immigrants that are willing be vaccinated; this is total BS and fear mongering to those oh so receptive towards it....it's a shame that some people pander to low information with actually checking out facts and know how to infer statistics, and using good old "critical thinking." :no:

I know this is an old post but I still just wanted to say well done to those of you on this thread who put your humanity before your flag. These are just people looking for a better life, as I am sure anyone here would if they had to directly contend with situations of dire poverty, governments bought by drug cartel lords and filthy rich, violent criminals making life a hell on earth for their fellow human beings.

The world is not going to get any better, become a better place by becoming more hard of heart and closed in mind. Nurses could see this as an opportunity to bring some community vision and creative opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving to this situation, which would surely be a more viable option than allowing fear to shut down hearts and minds.
