LPN to BSN from ISU

U.S.A. Indiana

Anyone heard about or is going through this new program from Indiana State University from The College Network. And if so, what do they mean when they say "completing your clinicals with a local preceptor"?

i have also talked with an advisor from tcn and it sounds great--esp. about clinicals. no 3 day clinical, thats just too scary!! its more of traditional clinical which i love. i really want to start right away but it costs $200/month and my husband is out of work right now!! any ideas???

how much does this program cost i am moving to fortwayne soon and wnat to get into a lpn to rn or bsn program but money is tight

just met with "Chuck" from College Network. Awesome guy - no baloney - knows his stuff and doesn't try to manipulate at all. this is an excellent option for some people - must be intrinsically motivated. from what i understand, the clinical component is not an issue (i had been concerned that it was). I may do it - or not - but would definitely recommend you talk to them. Chuck answered all my questions. as far as cost - it is not at all out of the ball park - Yes, it's more than community college, but not nearly what you'd pay for private school. Besides, who else offers the LPN to BSN? check it out.

Is there anyone out there that has completed the College Network Program ?? All the post are old and most from 2004. Is there anyone out there with some updated information?? Thanks.. I'm a current LVN with 2 days to change my mind about the program.

I had a very bad experience with the college network, and thought all of you should know this right from the beginning: ISU does not have an exclusive agreement with TCN for credit transfers/accepting the cleps/dantes. This straight from the mouth of school of nursing at isu and from their admission office. Check with ISU to find out, because after doing much of the TCN work, I found out from a coworker who got screwed. I started investigating and found out that much of what the "wonderful" TCN adviser told wasn't close to true. Go straight through ISU for any dealings. I was only going to go for RN-BSN and because of fine print, now owe many thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it! My friend was doing LPN-BSN, she owes more than me and has nothing to show for it either. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Hi

I just met with someone from the college network that coordinates with isu. I am also thinking about doing the lvn to bsn program threw this school. The total cost is about 30,000. you do under grad by studying their modules and testing out at different test sites. Sounds good but im also concerned it sounds to good to be true. The clincal part worries me as well. So i figured I would do some more research. The program does seem organized. If your determined and to busy to go the traditional route,it sounds like a good option.I will do more research before writing a check.

What did you decide. Did you sign up TCN for the prerequisites course for ISU?

Hello I read your blog I also live in new jersey and looking into the lpn to bsn program at ISU, I've been doing some research and I am not 100% sure about all of the details I've looked into clinical sites in new jersey for that program, I am not sure If you have to follow at their pace or it's on your own, I have some college network material from a previous RN program for excelsior I need to call college network to find out if I can use any of this I've heard of different methods of getting general education courses done. Spoke to the woman on the phone that deals with this program at ISU she was very vague, please let me know if you find out any more information!

Your best bet is to deal directly with ISU to find out information about the LPN-BS option. You can request info at http://indstate.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_4IWzQymcH7IVvpO&SVID=Prod

Their program is a semester based program. There are a few agencies in NJ, but you can also initiate a contract for others -http://www.indstate.edu/nhhs/contracts/clinical-agency-information.htm

good question. i know that you are in a class and have assignments, etc. my program is in calif, which is completely different from the rest of the us. best thing is to call isu.

can't help you on the gen ed classes as i took all my gen ed at a community college and at a university. i do know that isu accepts transcripts from ivy tech (a community college which has an online aspect for gen ed courses. it is like tcn but it is accredited and a college)
