how much Indiana nurses make - Page 7
Register Today!- Aug 24, '06 by lisalpn06Sorry, I don't. No one seems to want to talk about how much they make. Someone told me that all lpn's make the same, regardless of experience, but I hardly think that would be fair, ya know? But, like I said, I really don't know. They are looking for more people now, so, if your interested, you should apply!!
- Aug 24, '06 by HOOSIERNWQuote from lisalpn06Thanks for trying to find out. Will probably be coming back home one of these days soon. Just getting all my ducks in order now, so i have a list of places to apply to when it's time. Want to stay in corrections if possible.Sorry, I don't. Thanks again. - Sep 7, '06 by takapahaRNI'm in NW Indiana, and the starting pay for a nurse graduate (before state licensure - for RN) at my two local hospitals is $21.30 and $22/hr. There is a $2/hr shift differential for nights, and a $.50/hr increase once you pass the state exam.
An LPN starts at $14.50/hr. - Sep 7, '06 by HOOSIERNWQuote from takapahaRNYou must be in Lake or LaPorte Co. loooooooong time ago in NW Ind. Good grief, this state needs to catch up to reality. Looks like when I come back it's either corrections or agency for me.
Thanks a lot for your info.Aongroup1990 likes this. - Sep 8, '06 by takapahaRNQuote from HOOSIERNWYep, both the hospitals I am referring to are in Lake Co.You must be in Lake or LaPorte Co. I made more than that as a new LPN a

Best wishes to you! - Sep 21, '06 by alcml6473WOW!!!!! I took my LPN in Indiana and moved to Kansas City right after I graduated within 1 year I am making $22/hr AS AN LPN!!! They start RN's at $29 and $5/hr shift diff. and if you work the weekend nights it is $10/hr plus the $5 pluse $29. If you work an extra shift you get $15/hr plus the $29/hr. We are moving back in December 2006 after I complete my LPN to RN bridge, sounds like I will make less than when I was an LPN. Dosn't seem like going back to Hoosierland will be a very good monetary deal for any of us.WOW!!!!! Have a safe move in December. - Sep 24, '06 by jennifersI think you need to also consider the cost of living. I find that the cost of living goes up a lot when you move from laporte county to say st joseph county. You have to consider that when you are comparing state to state as well.
- Sep 24, '06 by jennifersi like to go to salary.com they have a cost of living wizard. I looked up south bend, IN vs. Kansas City.
You are likely to make 2.7% higher salary in KS but the cost of living is 8.6% greater.
If you make 40,000 in Indiana you would have to make $43,500 in KS to maintain the same standard of living. Just something to consider when looking for a new job in a different state.
40,000 is a lot more in indiana than it would be in Ca for example. - Sep 28, '06 by indynurse#2I worked as a Pediactric office RN in Inianapolis until 8/06 making $17.25/hr - of course, no nights or weekends...now I work as a UM nurse, also no nights or weekends, making over $50,000/year - office nursing is not the only way to go to have good hours, and definitely not the way to go if you need to make good money.Aongroup1990 likes this.
