  1. I got a 78 composite score. My advisor said last year they cut off at anything under 75.... she said she is not sure what the cut off will be this year.. I didn't think the test was that hard and am suprised I didn't do as well as I thought. However, I did leave at 2 hours so this time if I re-take I am going to use all the time and go over my answers... Do you think I should re-take and try to get a higher score?
  2. I am an LPN and make $18.00 at LTC. Thats day shift. It's $3 more an hour for weekends, $1 evenings and $2 nights. I am currently pursuing my RN and at local hospitals, new RN's usually start out at 19-20. At my LTC facility I will probably make $23.00 or more!
  3. I have two problems I am stuck on! If anyone can, please help! 1. The three main components of dry air and the percentage of each are N2 (78.08%), O2 (20.95%), and Ar (0.93%). Calculate the mass of one mole of air. 2. The density of liquid octane, C8H18 is 0.7025g/mL. if 1.00mL of liquid octane is vaporized at 100 degrees Celsius and 725 torr, what volme does the vapor occupy? Thanks
  4. I am Sooooooo Burnt out!!!!!!! I am a 24 year old LPN I have worked at the same nursing home for the 3 years I have been an lpn. I was working on the rehab/medicare floor and it is VERY fast paced. I have been really stessed out lately, and a lot of my co-workers have been too. Most of them are on antidepressant/antianxiety meds. I ma on anti-anxiety meds myself. Management knows we are stressed, but offer no help and claim we don't have it in the budget for extra help, yet we have 3 unit managers who do ABSLUTLY nothing. It seems like everyone is stresse din our buliding, the admissions director got sent out be ems today for a possible heart attack. An activities worker ran out of the building yesterday claiming, I am having a nervous breakdown! I know most nusring jobs are like this, and I am soo ready to quit nursing and never look back. I LOVE working with patients, I actually like a fast paced working environment, bt I can't stand management and their lack of help, I am sick of feeling unappreciated. Any encouraging words for me?!
  5. I have an elderly resident on 100mcg duragesic changed every 2 days instead of 3, oxycontin 80mg every eight hours, and two vicodin every six for breakthrough pain, and she takes this around the clock, she also takes ambien every night. Her dx is left shoulder replacement! She s a frail lady and doe not even seem phased by the medication. She actually says she needs more!! I think that the doctor has allowed this woman to become addicted to these drugs because they keep increasing them and of course she will build up a tolerance!
  6. What were your problems with micro? I am trying to study for that test myself. Thanks..
  7. Here is the web adress to the distance learning program for those interested... dlsii.com
  8. Okay, i admit was a little upset and Shouldnt have posted excelsior scam. I was talked into going through a program called distamce learning systems of indiana With a co-worker. This DLSI I guess is like Rue.. they help you with study materials for excelsior exams. The co-worker and I were to do this program together, after I signed on the dotted ine, she backed out. I know I am responsible for signing and for my decision. I guess I am more angry at myself for not looking into this program more. The more I read, am thinking I should have just went directly through excelsior, but at the time I had no actual idea what excelsior was, and the DSLI people telling me I need them to get through excelsior. And you guys are right, I am going t attempt to take the classes, I am paying for it, and with all the helpful advice and stories on this board I am sure I can get through it. Thanks for all your replies! and sorry for any misunderstanding.
  9. Well yes, but Exc are the ones that make it so he students have to pay the total costs upfront, instead of by class as you go on.
  10. Yes, Jena mae takes the oney out of my checking account each month...
  11. i signed up for excelsior college, and got a loan through jena mae. the thing is, i hated it. i took two of the exams did great on one of them and ok on the other. i just didnt feel like it was the right program for me. however they are making my pay $100 every month for 48 months and i am not even getting anything from them! i think it is such a scam because any other school, you pay as you go and they return some of your money if you dont complete a course. does anyone have a similiar story or know how i can get out of paying this? they only give you three days after signing for the loan to back out, and how can anyone possibly know after three days if something is going to workout for them? thanks for letting me vent.
  12. Hi there! Ho does one gain confidence? I have worked as an Lpn for 2 years, and a part of me wants to go on and get my Rn to open the door for other opportunities. I love being an Lpn but I am scared of the RN title and the responsibility it will entail. I keep putting off going back to school. For one its not the actual nursing courses that scare me since I have an idea what they are like. Its the pre reqs like chem and micro. I just am sooo scared that I won't get past these classes. Any encouragement would be MUCH appreciated!
