UIC BSN applicants for fall 2012

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

hi guys

Jan 15th has passed and now its time for the wait, I am pretty nervous because UIC is my number one choice and I would really love to start this BSN program in the fall. Its one of the best schools out there for nursing not only in the state, but in the entire US. Their grad programs are ranked among the best. So I am sure you guys want it just as bad as I do. Now its just time to wait till late April to find out whats going to happen.

who has applied to this program? and are you guys pretty nervous about this whole process? what do you guys think they are looking for in an applicant? what do you think is the deciding factor outside of just total package? is it GPA, medical experiance, essays, letters of reccomendation, etc..????

It was a pretty long application process so I know you guys are dedicated and put the time in. So lets hope for the best, feel free to join this thread at anytime.

Not all schools lie, but many do. The facts are all available to those who want to research, but with this as with much of life in general, people just glide through taking whatever is given to them, believing whatever is said, etc. Schools bank on people not researching and instead just regurgitating the same inflated pass rates to their friends and other students. It's what builds a reputation. More people have told me about UIC's high pass rate than I can count anymore, and it's not even true!

What I find even more interesting is the fact that one or two students may complain about an RN program somewhere, and suddenly everyone everywhere seems to be saying that "XXXX is a bad school" or "I've heard XXXX isn't a strong program" even if it's not really based on a history of issues. So I guess it comes as no surprise that people also take what they're fed regarding pass rates.

The machine preys on your fears and your hopes, and there you have it.

well, regardless of UIC passing rate, i know what kind of student I am, and i know I will pass that with no problems. God willing of course. But to tell you the truth, i am so so so so so so nervous about getting in there, I want to so bad and I dont know how the committee will view things, we find out in mid april and I am counting the seconds.

This is just crazy, I wonder if the schools know about this. do you guys think UIC really stresses GPA more than what they say?? they said its 33 percent of the decision that they make is based off of GPA. 33 for essays, and 33 for experience and recommendations. but given these NCLEX ratings, I think they want to push them up back to the mid to upper 90's again. because being in the 80's does not make you look good as a program. So GPA must be stressed more than what they said

so guys, I heard people In urbana location got their acceptance letters already!!!!!!!!!! well today i think they received emails! wow, a few more days and we find out. people who have not joined this thread feel free to do so at anytime. let us know if you guys got into urbana, and even if you received Chicago emails, but those wont be out till a few more days or a week or so. goodluck everyone

Global,

Yes the schools know about the NCLEX pass rates. In order for a school to be accredited it has to have certain requirements and the NCLEX pass rate reflects how well the school has prepared the students throughout their nursing student career. NCLEX pass rate is a pretty big deal. It concerns me that UIC is so low...
