Resurrection University Fall 2014

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'm starting this thread so that all my fellow applicants for Resu Fall 2014 can have a place to come and ask any and every question that may come to mind. I know I am a tad bit (ok a lot of bit lol) early since the app deadline isn't until April 1st. However, it would be great to hear from all of you as we start this app process.

Where are you taking your prerequisites now? Are you applying to any other BSN programs? Is there anything you are worried/nervous about as far as applying goes?

You really don't get to pick your courses. Everyone takes the same courses in order starting with Assessment and Patho. I think days takes Foundations

Syllabus won't get posted until sometime over the weekend after orientation. At least that's what happened a few years back for us.

Yeah I figured the classes would be the same for everyone starting in fall, I just meant in regards to the hours/times. The reason I ask is for work schedule purposes. Did you get to pick the hours?

Which program are you taking.. Nights and weekends or daytime?

Hey everyone! Has anybody got their orientation date yet? Mines August 11.

No, you don't get to pick your hours.

Daytime classes start at 8 am I believe and most clinicals are on weekdays. Evening weekend program started at 5 pm mainly, except the 'seminar' class they had us take in the beginning which started at 4. Peds I think started at 6 or 7 if I do recall, but that may have been based on the needs of the instructor at the time. Clinicals are usually on Saturday from 7 - 4.

If you hold a job outside of school, hopefully they are flexible as to when you can leave because there are almost no accommodations for late arrivals to class--as far as making up quizzes or exams that start at that time.

That's the way it was when they were still at Oak Park. Perhaps the bigger facility has made things better for students.

You will be almost guaranteed to pass NCLEX from this school. You will be well prepared via their ATI courses, but it is a strict program.

My orientation was last week and I got my schedule. You don't really get to pick your class hours. Everyone is taking the same classes every semester, just at different times of the day. It's kind of confusing but there were two sections, once you pick a section, you have to take all the classes in the same section. My schedule is 7AM to 3:30 with a break somewhere or 9AM to 3:30 and 1 to 4ish on Thursday with clinicals Friday.

For those who got their uniforms already, do you get them on the spot when you order or do you got to wait and pick them up another day?

I got my schedule too. It was a bit complicated trying to pick your classes even though you don't have much option.

Like c312 said you have two options section 1 or section 2. Each section comes with a list of classes with certain hours. And that's about as much choice as you get... You do pick your hours for both terms A & B for fall.

Each semester is divided into 2 terms,

Fall: A & B

Spring: C & D

Summer: E & F

Fall: G & H

also, Ive only bought the polos. The way that works is you go in, pick your size and then it takes minimum 24 hours for the stitching (ResU logo) to be ready, mine actually took 4 days for them to call. You shouldn't wait much though! Because sizes can run out and then that could take longer.

Hi, I'm not in your cohort but I'm applying for the Spring. I hope this doesn't come across as nosy, but what did they offer you in terms of financial aid @ShaunaJaNae777 ? And does anyone know the difficulty of getting the Loan forgiveness scholarship? I'm accepted into Olivet's program as well and I'm trying to compare before I get my hopes up about ResU.

I was accepted into Olivet's nursing program too but I heard so many bad things about them, I turned down their offer. After ruling out a few more schools, it came down to Saint Xavier or ResU. In the end, I chose ResU since they were very helpful in answering all my questions, close by, affordable, and had a great reputation. Students there are super nice too. Got to meet a few of them on the elevator at random times lol. Also, ResU was cheaper than Olivet and Saint Xavier even though they offered me a $12K scholarship just to attend. ResU is about $12K a semester, with financial aid I had to pay under $3K out of pocket while taking out about $4K in loans per semester. ResU also offered me $1500 need-based award and the remainder were grants.

Thank you for responding. Did you apply for the Loan forgiveness yet/plan to? That tuition is alot better!

Hey guys do you know if we have any say in where we go for clinicals or are they randomly assigned? I'm assuming if we get a choice it's probably too late by now, but for future semesters I'd like the know if we have a say in where we go.

Thanks!

The loan forgiveness application isn't out yet, but I spoke with a financial aid advisor who said its pretty competitive and they're not sure when it will be out. Or someone please correct me if the info has changed.

Also, for the clinicals. On the day of your orientation you fill out a sheet with info that they take into consideration when placing you into your clinicals. But they did say they try their best in assigning you, specially if you have like an area of interest/employment.
