Resurrection University Fall 2014

Published

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I'm starting this thread so that all my fellow applicants for Resu Fall 2014 can have a place to come and ask any and every question that may come to mind. I know I am a tad bit (ok a lot of bit lol) early since the app deadline isn't until April 1st. However, it would be great to hear from all of you as we start this app process.

Where are you taking your prerequisites now? Are you applying to any other BSN programs? Is there anything you are worried/nervous about as far as applying goes?

Has anyone purchased their books?

I did, bought them new from Amazon for $705. Got them today. I looked it up from the ResU bookstore and just ordered them off Amazon, it was 12 books if I'm correct.

Wow:eek:

That's for the entire fall semester (A&B term) right?

For those who are already students and done with the first semester, is there any books that you would recommend buying with the intention of keeping because they are useful for later courses/terms?

I'm probably going to blow up this thread with comments now that we're close. I got my nurse pack a few days ago, but I was wondering, does it come with a stethoscope? I read somewhere on this site that it does, but now I can't find that post. And, well, mine didn't come with one. Is it missing or it doesn't include one?

Don't think so, I bought my stethoscope on my own and my nursing pack did not come with one.

No the pack doesn't come with the stethoscope. I bought my online at Amazon

$705?! I rented mine for $90 but then again I am doing the evening/weekend. It was 3 books for term A and I'll just have to rent 1 more book for term B (reusing Health Assessment books for both terms.

When I was at Res the nurse packs came with a stethoscope but it was a very cheap one. Ear pieces came off within a couple of weeks. I bought my own prior at a uniform store. We didn't use many of the things inside of the pack.

Posted twice, comment is below.

Sorry for the late reply but I just saw this now. Honestly I haven't bought any of the books and I'm now into my 3rd semester. If I've ever needed a book I have either just checked it out from the library (or used the one behind the counter) or have been able to find a pdf version for free online. Also this might sound bad but I have not needed to read the 'required readings' for most of the classes and I've gotten by just fine. Scratch that, you need to for patho but until you get to OB that's about it. Most of the teachers tell you exactly what you need to know and I would just borrow the book as a reference if I really needed to clarify things. But, that's how I learn best. I know classmates of mine have bought every book because that's how they learn best.

I only skimmed the books from time to time. Eventually, I stopped buying them. I studied mainly from the ATI pdfs , professor slides, and You Tube videos. I don't learn best by reading either. I got by with a B average plus I had a full time job.

Passed NCLEX on first try.

Good to know, due to a discrepancy I didn't have the $$ to buy books. I rented them all from the library and my first semester had been just fine with me doing that. Thanks for the info guys
