Does anyone know anything about Lewis University?....I wasnt considering it before but I went to Saint Xaviar and they take thier freshmans as priority for the nursing programs...their supposedly backed up untill spring 2011! :angryfire

Hello! How many students do they accept into the Lewis nursing program? I know aurora accepts 74

Lewis University accepts anywhere from 50-100 nursing students each semester. It all depends on the hospitals, how many instructors they will have for that semester, and how many students apply. Lewis has a strict teacher-to-student ratio and is the reason why not many people get into their program. It's a really tough program and they accept most people with a 2.75 and above GPA but more than 50% of the students end up failing out. A couple of years back they accepted almost 100 students and it was the largest group they have ever had. Hope this helps!

I'm going to be taking micro this coming semester at C.O.D Has anyone taken it here? If so what teacher? Any tips? Thank you

I took Micro at COD but the professor I took isn't there anymore. Go to Ratemyprofessor.com and it'll give you some ratings on teachers from real students. That's how i picked all of my COD teachers and it never failed!

Thank you for the information. I recently submitted my application into the nursing program with a 3.38 gpa. What are my chances at Lewis then? Also the advisor said she would start reviewing the applications starting january 3rd...so when would I find out about my status?

Also do you have to take a Test of the BSN program?

I'm guessing you'll be on the top of their list to get in with your GPA. You probably wouldn't start the actual nursing classes until the fall if you're a transfer. You'll just have to take some pre-reqs if you haven't already. They'll let you know soon. I don't remember waiting more than a month to find out. Good luck!

Thank you for the quick respone. I applied for the Fall 2011 semester. Right now I am taking all the pre-reqs at UIC and will finish all of them by the end of July. Is their a test I need to take? I heard they accept actuall Lewis students first then transfer students?

You need to take the NET (Nurse Entrance Exam) to get in first. Then, you have to have taken their cultural diversities class and i think 1 more that do not transfer from any school if you've already taken them elsewhere. You need to take them at Lewis. And I'm sure you will get in for the Fall semester since they accept many students. Most of them are transfers. I only waited one semester to get in and that's just because i had 3 pre-reqs to take before i started the actual nursing classes. I figured it would be too much work to do everything at once. I really wouldn't worry about getting in. You'll be accepted if you meet all the requirements but don't quote me on that! You may just have to wait 1 semester is all if there is very limited space.

I'm taking the kat test on September 13. Was wondering if anyone has taken it in the last year and how it was. Thank you

I've taken it back in January of 2010 and let me tell you I've stressed too much! It was not that difficult overall, especially knowing the fact that they test you only on math and reading, because science part is not counted into the total score. However the actual program is the whole another story. It is super fast with a huge amount of studying. I have never in my life had to quit my part time job in order to be able to study for weekly exams and complete millions of assignments. It is the hardest thing I have ever had to do hands down. On the other hand it is a good program because it will prepare you and you will have the skill and the mentality that is required as a nurse. So, do not worry to much about the KAT exam and get ready for some serious and I mean SERIOUS studying :) Good luck!

for the ABSN program at Lewis, what is the evening schedule like? Are your clinicals during the evenings too, or on the weekends? If they are on the weekends, what time do they start and end? also why does this school require Organic Chemistry? It seems like a waste of a course once in the program

Thank you.
