JJC Spring 2011?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I posted a while ago in the Illinois section. No reply so I thought I'd see if it was just because its just not an active area or if there is no one on here from JJC. So anyway, anyone put in their application during the Aug 1st-15th open application? I applied for the night program and am currently waiting for an email saying they have accepted my application and when the TEAS test dates are.

I'd love to meet some other JJC students. If we get into the program we can set up study groups. By the way I've been through the first semester (long story, don't want to repeat what I've already posted here). I can share my experience.

If no one applies I'll assume the new applicants haven't found this great site yet:D

Can anyone tell me what time clinicals are for night students???

Definately not before 4pm. I want to say 4-10pm....not sure, but something like that. Sorry, I'm in the day program!

Wow...congrats!! It must be a great feeling to only have 1 semester left! I can't wait to get where you are :D! So tell me....does it get easier or harder as the semesters go by?!! I can say I've had an overall okay semester. A lot tougher than I thought 1st semester would be, though.

how are you doing in your 3rd semester, lilrn?? 2nd semester has been ok. you're right, definitely a lot more info but i think the fact that the anxiety from 1st semester is gone makes a world of difference. i'm getting through this easier than i think i got through last semester. how is 3rd? and how was the pn predictor? i'm stressing about that one. did you did for your lpn boards? if so, how was that? hope you're breezing by and thanks again for all of your helpful input!!! :nurse:

Hi Sweetpea. It's good to hear that you felt 2nd semester was easier than 1st because so far I've heard just the opposite ( "a lot" of studends did not pass 2nd semester or third semester is what I I've been hearing). I can't imagine not passing in 3rd semester after all that work.....definitely stresses me out!!:uhoh3:

Yes! It is ,but also very nerve racking because its down to the final wire. As far as being easier or harder.. First semester is always rough..its a big change in how material is presented and really just its own little world..some aspects will become easier.such as doing careplans ALL the time..it will become second nature and you'll be able to get through a full one in no time. The content in my eyes does get slightly more difficult..but the part i find is hard is just the shear amount of content presented at one time. YOU CAN DO IT! Don't get discouraged. Take it one step at a time. As the semesters go on..it becomes much more involved with extra things like ATI. Everyone has the strong and weak points..i was always told to keep my eye on the gold and take it one day at a time.one test at a time. It'll be over before you know it..trust me! I remeber my first day like it was last week!!

Give yourself a pat on the back..your 1/4 of the way done!!!:nurse:

Just chiming in:twocents:..not to sound cold..or be discouraging by any means..but don't let those numbers or fears get the best of you..gotta keep them positive thoughts flowing or the stress will overcome you. Unfortunately people don't pass..and it is gut wrenching for everyone and i have watched people ive become close to not pass..and my heart breaks for them ( but they didn't give up and dove right back in and repeated it successfully!!) it does get better..i promise. This semester 1/3 of the night class didn't pass after the final and at registration i think the day programs lost 10-15. :crying2:. Don't think that your up against the impossible..keep your head in the game.

Word of advice for anyone entering 3rd semester..watch out for cardiac:redbeathe..the teacher who teaches it is a piece of work.

Wow! 1/3 of the class seem like an abnormal number!!!:crying2: That must be an awful feeling... I need to try really hard to stay positive, like you said....but honestly, sometimes it's so discouraging. So, if you fail the semester, you are allowed to retake it without reapplying to the program?

yes! you can most definitely repeat if it comes down to it (Remeber positive thoughts!!) It does depend if they have room but usually there is because 1) people dont pass 2) They choose to leave the program for other reasons or even sometimes take a semester off and come back. It does seem like a large number..im not sure how many were actually in the night program though. It does without a doubt become a challenge to stay positive but we are all here because we worked hard and deserve to be here. I'll be the first one to admit..ive cried (on several occasions) and even thought about quitting once, as i know for a fact several of my close classmates have been here as well. you just have to keep on you "A" game and tell yourself you can do this. If you start feeling discouraged..or doubting yourself..take a break from your school stuff..go do something fun or that you enjoy and clear your mind. It helps! and if your struggling with something..ASK FOR HELP! the tutors and the teachers who run the skills lab are awesome, 99% of the instructors are always more than willing to help you. They want you to succeed!:D

I have been staring at this 2nd semester schedule non-stop since Thursday afternoon!! It just looks soooooo very complicated and I'm already super freaked out! Got through 1st semester but it was just too close for my comfort!! I was really beating myself up all semester for not getting A's on everything, but at the end of the semester I finally accepted that 92% and 86% was a-okay with me!! Forget the letter grade!!! Passing is passing!

Hey Lil.... is 2nd semester the same as 1st in regards to the test preparation coming mostly from power points?
