hi,

i'm a filipino doctor living in CA and working as a clinical research coordinator...i plan to move to IL in a yr and practice nursing....are there any online courses in an associate's degree of nursing that i can take in order to take the NCLEX and be licensed to practice in IL? i would like to keep working as a CRC until i finish my nursing course hence i would prefer taking classes online...and then take the NCLEX for IL and eventually practice there in a yr...is this possible?

I imagine that if you contact the board of nursing in your state that they can give you some leads on courses or review books.

I'm not really sure if there is nursing course that you can take online but if you just want to review for the NCLEX you can check KAPLAN. They offer both online & class reviews.

You'll have to go to nursing school...reviewing for NCLEX, while helpful when you graduate nursing school, will do no good until you graduate. You'll have to have your foreign credits evaluated..(your undergraduate courses) for possibility of having them transferred into a nursing program.

Sorry, the study of medicine does not qualify anyone to take the NCLEX. You must study nursing.

As an MD, you are qualified to enter the Excelsior College School of Nursing. Go to their website, http://www.excelsior.edu, and find the nursing school section and read up on the distance program. Call one of their advisors to get your questions answered. You can also find lots of posts and threads about Excelsior on this site. However, you need to check with the IL Board of Nursing to see if the Excelsior program is accepted for licensure in IL. Good luck.

Just noticed date of OP. Hope the OP, by now, has been able to accomplish the goal of becoming a nurse in IL.
