FL RN thinking about relocating to Chicago

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello!

So i'm thinking about relocating to Chicago. I am a BSN grad with 1 year of med/surge experience. How are jobs in Chicago right now?

Also, can I be licensed in both states if I keep up to date on relicensing? I just don't want to have any issues if I decide to stay in Florida? Hopefully this makes sense.

Thank you : )

I'm not in chicago but I have read in a few boards that nurses in chicago are having a tough time finding jobs. Maybe apply and interview there first before taking a leap.

Yes, you can maintain as many licenses as you like (as you are willing to pay for and meet the CE requirements for), except in the case of NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact) member states. You can only hold one "compact license" (at a time), and it must be in your home (permanent residence) state. Neither IL nor FL is a compact state, so that wouldn't affect you.

It's a competive market, but there are definitely jobs for the experienced BSN

competitive ....I don't know why you would want to move here. cold and cost of living is high and rude people. id stay in florida

I agree with above poster!!! You know it snows here right?!? The other day I left for work at like 6am and it was so cold, my face hurt.
