Hello,

I posted on here about a year ago when I first applied for a hospice position. I did not get that job, so I applied with a different agency about 3 months later and I didn't get that job either......

So, I started working at a nursing home about 3 months ago. I just saw that one of the hospice agencies was hiring again a few weeks ago, so I thought "what the hay" and applied again. I just found out today that I got the job! I am very excited!

I am a bit nervous about giving my two weeks notice at the nursing home, especially because they just named me nurse of the month at our nursing meeting today...

But I am still very excited! I have so much to learn, I will be working part time which they say is 3 days a week with a case load of about 5 patients.

So, I am sure I will be spending lots of time here! I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Good for you!

I have almost the same story actually! I applied to this Hospice company I know at least 5 times online. I worked at a LTC and the Hospice Nurse that came in there to see her PT essentially got me in for a interview! And was offered the job! I'm a few months in and I LOVE it! Welcome to Hospice! I hope you love it as much as I do!

Congratulations and welcome! Hospice is the hardest job you will ever love. You will feel more appreciated and learn more about life than you ever have before. People tell me that anyone who gets a job with hospice will either love it or hate it, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground, because it is a calling.

I wish you many great years of comforting people and their families through the hardest times of their lives. Words cannot tell you how rewarding it is.

Thank you all so much for the welcome! I am very excited! I go to orientation tomorrow. I am sending in a resignation letter today, so I still have 2 weeks left at my current position. I cannot wait until I am all in at the hospice! I already feel so much better about my nursing career knowing that I will be making a real difference in peoples lives. Not that long term care isn't important, but I am spread so thin and see so much that I can't change and it has really not been a great experience.

Anyway, Thanks again, I look forward to getting to know you all!

Congrats same goes for me but I will be doing inpatient hospice..Finally something other than LTC- I never liked LTC! I feel underappreciated and I'm tired of working with lazy CNAs who get upset when you even ask them to take 2 or 3 vital signs per shift smh
