What type of exercise do you do??

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Im just curious as to what kind of exercise you all do. I have been doing pilates for about 8 months. So I decided I wanted to try something different. Welllllllllll I started with a DVD for beginners of cardio kickboxing.

Let me tell you........... it is so much FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also found a site for Itrain, with some downloadable mp3 files for IBallet. It uses ballet movements and kickboxing moves to tone and strengthen the lower body.

Also, like many of you, I have been under a TON of stress lately, things that I wont go into here, but lets just say more than work issues........... its nice to "kick" it away!!!!!!!!!

So what do you all do?????????

I do Pilates mat work . I do not have a reformer. I run, bike, have a rowing machine, weights and kayak. I also walk my dog. When I feel really tired and a bit injured I will do some yoga. Love it all.

I personally love to bike, bench and pushups, and free weights. I have a hard time getting into a scedule with the hectic schedule of the hospital, but enjoy myself when I am on schedule.

I am triathlon girl!

I bike :redbeathe

I swim :redbeathe

I run :redbeathe

sometimes yoga

sometimes strength training (actually yuck, but necessary)

I run stairs at work (people think I'm crazy!):chuckle

Yesterday I jogged a pitifully slow 2 miles on the treadmill. Today DH and I did 5 - 6 miles on our bikes, in very hilly terrain - we live in the mountains.

I TRY to get up early enough to walk the 1.25 miles to work, because I then start the day with my heart already started.

And I need to get back to exercising at some intensity every day, and doing push-up, crunches, and something for my trcieps. I'd really like them to be reattached to my arms.

I run approximately 20 miles per week, and lift weights 2-3 times per week.

It sounds like a lot, but the paybacks are enormous (mentally and both physically).

My exercise consists of the big three. Swimming, Running, Biking. I love participating in marathons and triathelons. Seems like I'm always running to somewhere or back from somewhere anyway. I stay very busy. There are some other sports I am into as well.

Tennis. I love it! :redbeathe

I also go to the gym and use the stairmaster or walk on the treadmill.

If it is late, I'll walk through the park and on the beach.

I really need to do more weight training though. I know I should be doing this to keep my bones strong, but I get lazy.

Ahhh! A fellow tri! Cool!

I'm doing my very 1st tri on October 5th. Wish me luck. Very nice to meet you "Iam46yearsold" I am 41. So much nicer in my 40's than earlier years when I took my health for granted!

I'm hoping to do a 1/2 marathon next year - if my unhappy foot/ankle lets me.

Good luck to you. I love both marathons and triathelons. I do about a 12 a year. Both training for them and going to them you meet such nice people.

If we're talking about current exercise for me, well...I walk around at uni alot :imbar.

Anyways, I've just discovered that youtube has some pretty good stuff on it. There's full length yoga and pilates classes, and then ones that are 10 minutes if you feel like targeting a certain area (good for study breaks too). Check it out!
