Cracked and Bleeding hands...help?!

Nurses Stress 101

Published

I am sure that many of you are dealing with the same issue now that winter has come along...dry, cracked and painful hands. I was wondering if anyone had any cures for this...great lotions you have found etc? I hate going to care for patients with my hands looking like they have been through a war zone...its embarrassing and it looks gross. Please help.

Thanks!

Gold Bond Healing Cream.... LOVE IT!! You can also put vaseline on your hands and wear cotton gloves to bed. But I hate that feeling. Gold Bond is awesome. They have Healing and other creams. Absorbs nicely. I like how I have it on for a whole ten minutes and then I have to pee and wash my hands and with it the lotion. Ugh! LOL

Use A&D ointment at night on your hands, and keep it with you at work. The A&D will help heal your hands. I always put lotion on my hands after I wash them, even it I have to wash my hands again a short time later. It keeps your hands moist.

Vaseline! You can thin it out with a bit of water if you feels like it's too thick/greasy, or you can just use it to spot treat. It also works well for dry, chapped lips!

Udderly Smooth! The bottle is spotted like a car! Best I've found!

Spotted like a COW..haha

Gold Bond Hand Sanitizer lotion is great as is all Gold Bond lotions I have tried.

Have you heard of Gloves in a Bottle? It is a lotion that coats your skin with dimethicone like those skin protectant lotions commonly found in hospitals do. I have found that it is not great if your hands are already dry and cracked but it cuts down on the possibility that they will get that way if used regularly.

"no crack." you can get it online at the vermont country store or duluth trading.

Try the Deep Sea Cosmetics kit called complete Nail Treatment kit.

The hand lotion is excellent and the nail kit is great.

It is offered online or at kiosks at malls around the holidays.

Best products I have tried!

Gold Bond also makes a hand lotion with a sanitizer built in. I tried it the other day. It seemed OK to me.
