Hello all! I have been avidly following previous topics about the NCP program and I wanted to start one for those of us who have recently submitted a kit for the NCP program for FY2015. I'm in the Chicago area and my kit is currently being combed over by a processor then will be shipped out for the boards- which aren't convening until Novemeber (according to my recruiter), since they wanted to have more applicants. Hopefully this will be an area to calm nerves and answer questions. Good luck to all who apply, or are thinking of applying!

I am also going for the NCP for FY 15 and heard from my recruiter the other day that my package was sent to the board. When asked about if the shutdown would affect anything he said it wouldn't, he also thought the board was going to happen by mid or end of oct.

I also applied! Submitted my package mid-August. Hoping for some good news soon! I'm glad the shutdown isn't set to cause any delays.

My recruiter sent my packet to a processor and he combed over it and sent it off to the boards. He and my recruiter both told me they weren't convening a board until November because they wanted more applicants. My recruiter also said the shutdown should not affect (or is it effect....I never know the difference) NCP. I don't know if I can handle waiting any longer to find out! Not that I've been waiting that long. I started the application process in March so compared to some people that's a relatively short amount of time. Anyone know how many spots are open?

Oh ok, yea like I said when I spoke to my recruiter this past tuesday he said the board will be going down sometime this month, but he could be wrong. It is reassuring that you heard the shutdown wasn't going to affect NCP either.. I actually started the process last year and just missed getting to the last board last year, which I think was in March or April. So I've been at this a while too and am anxious to get an answer one way or the other. I haven't heard about number of spots, but if their pushing the board back to november because they don't have enough applicants i'd say thats pretty good news for us.

I also heard they wanted more applicants. Though, more applications have been sent up to the boards. (That's what I heard last!) I'd love for them to meet sooner than November. I'm anxious! I've wanted this for so long.

I recall hearing that the first board date would be this month. Start of the new fiscal year. However, that could have changed!

I heard there was 60 spots. I did hear that a few months ago, so I'm not sure if it still holds true! I don't imagine that would have changed.

Does pretty much everyone who goes to the boards get accepted? If they are concerned that not enough people are applying it doesn't seem like there would be much of a selection process.

Will either of you try for DA if you don't get NCP? I definitely will. When is your graduation date? How do you feel your interviews went, GPA, letters of rec, etc? Haha I'm totally giving you the third degree, but its nice to see how others feel about it first hand

From what I understand if they view your file and like you, you get a spot. If they view your file and don't like you, you don't get a spot. Then if at the end of that selection process they still need more people, they will wait for more applicants.

TraumaRNHopeful: I applied with a 4.0. I thought the interviews went really well. (I hope the interviewers felt the same!) I've wanted to be a Navy nurse for years, so I really tried to convey that. All of my letters were sent directly to my recruiter, so I wasn't able to read them. I was accepted into a BSN program in May of this year, and got to work on my application the day following my acceptance! (Eager. Definitely eager. Haha!) I'll graduate in May of 2015. What about you?
