Hello all! I have been avidly following previous topics about the NCP program and I wanted to start one for those of us who have recently submitted a kit for the NCP program for FY2015. I'm in the Chicago area and my kit is currently being combed over by a processor then will be shipped out for the boards- which aren't convening until Novemeber (according to my recruiter), since they wanted to have more applicants. Hopefully this will be an area to calm nerves and answer questions. Good luck to all who apply, or are thinking of applying!
Damn. I feel totally outdone by you two haha. 4.0 GPA and previous military experience is awesome. I had a 3.5 and no previous military experience (too bad my fiance's 3 tours with the Army to Afghanistan don't count, lol). I do work in a hospital though as a CNA. I'm suuper nervous about it. I've heard there are some applicants that are like the poster child of Navy Nursing that don't get in and some applicants that have no business getting in and they do. So frustrating! I would also graduate May 2015
Thanks, and yea i'm hoping it does help! But if there are still 60 spots, theres not many applicants, and our packages are at that first board, I don't think theres any reason why we all shouldn't get selected... There is someone in my cohort who started the process earlier than I did last FY and was selected off the DEC board I think.
Thank you for your service, dolphins421!That's still a great GPA! Having a military connection also helps! Hoping for the best for all of us. From what I've heard, if you get your application in early, you have a better chance. They fill spots as applications come in.
Awesome! The less the better haha! I have been obsessing over this for way too long. It's definitely not about the money- I just want to know I have a job with the Navy when I get done with school, so waiting to even apply for DA for another year and a half will be rough. I've toyed around with the idea of enlisting if NCP and DA don't pan out....I know I wouldn't be able to go in as an officer and a nurse, but I would be in the Navy, which is what I want
haha yea I definitely wouldn't enlist after graduating. You wouldn't get any good experience at all, which is what a new grad really needs. You said your from chicago, how hard is it for a new grad to find a position at a major hospital? In San Diego its currently very hard

I'll be 25 in December. I used to be a professional ballet dancer. I had devoted my life to dancing so finding something else I would be passionate about took a lot of 'soul searching.' I am every passionate about the medical field, but more specifically ER/trauma work. I work in a major hospital in Chicago so I overhear people talking about the availability right now...I think its a toss up. On the one hand I have worked with A LOT of new grads. On the other hand I hear about people who have gone through the Grad program that is through the hospital I work at who can't get a job after school with that same hospital. However openings may be quite different in the next 2 years. When the bulk of the 'baby boomers' retire there will be openings to fill. So I think its more of a timing thing.

And I'll definitely try for DA, but I hope it doesn't come to that!
