    hello sunnyjohn!

    much appeciation.

while i invited my cohortmates to a pizza party/take my oath in a room at campus in a couple weeks i am going in tomorrow to get the paperwork, "official". it is a nice gesture of my recruiter to come and make a little ceremony out of taking the oath for me.

    Athena!!

Thank you right back! Finally is right, phew was I sweating it, yes I was!

Tomorrow I sign the paperwork and my recruiter's boss told me today that after I pass NCLEX, (end of summer) I will re-commision as AD in order to go to OBC.

Hey...anyone else heard of that? I am accepted as Active Duty yet will be commisioning tomorrow and then "re-commision" before going to OBC in the fall. Am I misunderstanding this or is this how they do DEP?

Hmmm, maybe I should copy and paste that last paragraph into a new thread.

    I will, still glad though!

Wow an oath ceremony on campus? Cool!

I am sure many of us on allnurses wish we could come up the Dan Ryan and attend to wish you well. Good luck Gen. You will make a swell officer.

    Awww,

You would be welcomed to come if you could make it!

It is so cool that my recruiters are willing. Then again, it will be at the student activity center at my university campus so, that could work to their benefit as well.

Meanwhile I figure that there may be a possibility that some of my classmates are interested themselves but, not yet enough to pursue calling the recruiters just yet.

So, tomorrow I will go to become a legit Active Duty with Reserve commsion.

    (is that right?)
Gen-thanks again sunnyjohn for the well wishes, you too!

    Hello,
It is in August? I thought it was October?

No doubt I am wrong! I guess if it is held four times a year and you are set for August I guess I would follow you.

This is, unless my license for RN comes back in time! Yet, that would be too tight because I do not expect to receive my license in the mail until six weeks after I sit for it, (in late July or early August).

Congratulations to you too! Have you received your orders or your branch orientation contacts yet? I have not but, expect them in about two months or so.

i am schedules to grad one month before you, so you never know. i did not plan on taking the nclex until around mid june but they still have me slotted for a report date of aug 5th.

you need to talk to your recruitor right away. you need to contact LTC Adams-Mann (Program Director, AECP & ANCP Programs). She sent out a form (RFO) to all of the ancp and aecp (the enlisted soldiers) awhile back. This is the form you get to put down your top 10 places you want to go after finishing obc. if you even want a chance to get your choice (unless you some how got this guaranteed) you need to get this to her. she is a great person so if your recruitor wont do this for you or tries to brush you off, let me know, i have her contact information. This just gives her an idea of the places you want to go in the order you want them. She them tries to get that for you. if she does not have this information, then when she finally does get it, there is not going to be a lot of good places left. this is also the person who can tell you what class they have you slotted for, because if she knows about you yet (paperwork can take forever in the army) then she is the one that takes care of you. Of course I am going off the fact that i think you are in the ancp program. but just to give you an idea of how urgent this is, she has had this information for all the ancp and aecp people for months.....and she has been placing people, not to mention the reason she asks for this information so much in advanced is to give her guys a chance at getting what they want.....ROTC had their information in since around aug 06 (this all applies for a spring graduation class that they are planning for). i hope this all helps.
