License by Endorsement in GA, How long did it take?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

i was just wondering if anyone has got there rn license transfer to georgia, by endorsement, recently.

how long did they take to issue you a license?

on the application it states 15 business day but i called gabon, and they said, 15 days to process and up to an 30 additional days to get license issued.:uhoh3: i was hoping it wouldn't take this long and that there are people out there who had shorter wait times.

Yes I have the link for that thanks it still says they are waiting on "Verification of Licensure" their system just seems so antiquated. I may have to go back to my home state and work agency and fly back to Georgia to be with my family on the weekend.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Call them every day. Have the receipt number for your Nursys verification and give that to them every time you call. Tell them you are in desperate need to find a job as your family likes to eat and let them know when you applied and ask what they are waiting on. If the first person you get on the phone isn't helpful, call back again. I too am an Army wife, and it took some time to get my license, but once I stepped up on the phone calls and demanding to know why it was taking so long, the license was processed in a 5-10 working days. I knew they had everything because I sent EVERYTHING that was required in one packet certified with signature on receipt. I got an email that they were missing a couple of things. I responded that they did indeed have everything they needed and again gave them my nursys verification number and my fingerprinting number. I kept calling. I totally understand your frustration. Good luck and God bless.

PS - Also keep track of when you call and who you talk to and what you were told. I just kept a list on a sheet of paper.

I applied for licensure by examination the first week of August and it was taking forever just to get my ATT!! After four weeks of waiting and no ATT, I called and wrote emails to the Secretary of State, Brian Kemp - the Board of Nursing is under his administration.

Interestingly, I received my ATT 2 days later. :) My total time from application to licensure was about six weeks.

Here are the sites that I used to contact him/his people:

What I learned while applying to GA by endorsement is that what people are saying about calling is extremely true. I had to call the SC BON to figure out what my hold up was at first. Then after everything I needed to do was completed, I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. I had an interview lined up in GA and went ahead and told the HR lady that my GA license was still being processed. A few days before my interview, I finally called GA BON, because all I was waiting on was the verification from my original and current state license (both are SC). I talked to the lady who sent a note to somebody to check on the status. A day or two later I finally had my license. I think from start to finish my process took about about 60 days. Definitely call them if you are having lulls in your process! I am now licensed in two states and will start my first job's orientation November 1st!!

My application was recieved on the 18th of Oct. I sent in everything they asked for but I see people talking about NURSYS was this something that I was supost to do??? I just graduated in May and no one will even talk to me untill I have my license. Im worried that this is going to be more of a hassel than I thought. My husband is most likely deploying in a month and if I dont have a job to keep my mind off of that I dont know what im going to do...

Ashlee, somehow I missed this part when I was doing mine as well. I received something from SC BON telling me that they needed proof of residency, so I sent in my license. From there, I thought that SC would verify my original and current license. Nope, a phonecall to SC BON told me differently. She told me it was $20 (and the least enthusiastic person I've ever dealt with in my life btw haha), but it is actually $30. Go to NURSYS.com and it goes over what to do. Super easy - just more money. Hope that helps! Best of luck! Oh, and if you don't hear from them within a reasonable amount of time, CALL THEM and stay on 'em!!

So...if im a louisiana resident should i go ahead and take boards in LA and then endorse in GA? whats will be quickest...will hospitals in augusta let you apply while you wait on your license?

If you know FOR SURE you are going to be leaving Louisiana to go Georgia, my recommendation would be to do it all with Georgia the first time. I'd like to know other people's opinions on this as well; however, considering the time it takes to transfer to GA, it seems worth it to me to do it right the first time. As far as applying before you have the license, I'd say it depends on the particular place. I was able to, but that does not guarantee everybody will be ok with it.

My application was received on Dec 21, 2010. Got my license Jan 19, 2011 and that is including resending a document. Hope this helps the next person.:yeah:

Over the summer it took about 45 days, that is their busy season when everyone graduates & takes nclex. So be prepared if you are applying over the summer.

I had Alabama send the varification 3 times. On the third time I spoke to one of the executive officers. she was so mad. She went on and on about how many varifications they have to resend and how much money it costs them. I told GA that I had a physical license that alabama gave me is that not varification, apparently not.
