Hi great nurses. Am a foriegn nurse , I jst passed my NCLEX-RN with California and I want to transfer my license to GA because am living in GA right now. I hv called the GABON to ask what I will need to submit but I was only directed to go to the GA website which is actually not helping me. Pls does anyone no what I need to submit to GA for my license to be endorsed?

You will need to visit the website at www.sos.ga.gov/plb/rn and download the application for licensure by endorsement. Follow the instructions included with the application. Rememeber that incomplete applications will result in processing delays. Additionally, please note that if you have graduated from nursing school within four years of the date of application you will not be required to meet the practice requirement described on the application.

Thanks Jamesc. I am kind of disturbed right now bcos I graduated in Nov 06, but was working with my foreign license till 2009 Dec before moving here March last yr. Do you know if they will accept an experience outside US? Your help is highly appreciated.

If you obtained your education outside of the United States and are not currently licensed in another state you may visit the website at www.sos.ga.gov/plb/rn and download the application for international graduates.

I am currently licensed in state of California. What am trying to do is to transfer

the license to GA

If you are currently licensed in the State of California then you should apply to Georgia for licensure by endorsement.

yes I hv downloaded and filled the application. Do I need to submit a verification of employment to GA since I graduated more than 4yrs ago ie Nov 2006.I find out that it is one of their requirements

Hi All,

I have a couple questions about RN licensure by endorsement, too. I currently live and am licensed in VA and have applied for a job as a new grad nurse at a hospital in GA. The hospital indicated I need to have a GA license before they'll make me an offer.

I found the link (thanks) for the application to get my license endorsed into GA. But the instructions indicate I also need fingerprints and a background check by a company that runs the GAPS system. I'm not clear how I can do that, living outside the state at the moment. Would I have to fly/drive to somewhere in GA to go to a GAPS site for this stuff?

I'm not sure I want to go to that effort and cost when I don't even have a job offer yet in GA.

you may visit the georgia board of nursing's website at www.sos.ga.gov/plb/rn, click on "application downloads" and choose instructions for out of state applicant fingerprint background check. this will provide clear information regarding the necessary steps to obtain a background check without traveling to the state of georgia.

great, thanks for the heads up! too bad ga is not part of the nursing licensure compact. that would make things a lot easier for many of us out-of-staters.

hello, I just printed out al 14 pages of application forms. I'm a bit overwhelmed because I have no idea where to start. What forms did you submit first? I'm afraid if I send my application before I my employers signs and sends verification of employment form or if board of nursing from TN sends verification of original license, register for background check exc that they will deny my application. But I'm also afraid that if I get those documents sent before I send my application that they won't know what to do with it.

Am I making any sense?

So what forms did you send first?

My GA RN Endorsement timeline:

I mailed off my application on Feb. 22, 2012 via UPS certified mail. It was received at the GBON office on Feb 24, 2012. My application was logged into the online system on Feb. 27, 2012. And today, Mar. 1, 2012, I received an email by GBON that my licensed was approved along with my license number. Now Im just waiting on my paper license to be mailed out.
