Atlanta Hospitals

U.S.A. Georgia

So I'm pretty much stating the obvious but finding a job in the A has been nothing but extremely difficult!! I don't have any contacts and I'm an ASN prepared nurse and I'm seriously considering relocating! Hospitals I've applied to so far:

-Grady (I even got a rejection email on one of the units I applied to, I thought Grady took everyone!)

-Wellstar (rejected all my applications)

-Piedmont Atl, Fayette, Henry, Newnan (pretty much all rejections)

-Dekalb (all rejections)

-Northside Atl (no response)

-Emory Adventist (no response)

-Floyd (no response)

-Redmond (no response)

-Cartersville (no response)

-Atlanta medical (no response)

-Southern regional (no response)

-Choa (no response)

-some hospital in conyers (no response)

-Tanner-(no response)

-I didn't even apply to Emory bc I think you need a bsn for their residency

I haven't applied to nursing homes or psych hospitals yet. I was gonna wait to see if I got a bite from one of these hospitals. I was hoping I would have luck with rural places but no luck! Let me know if I'm forgetting somewhere! I'm about 40 miles west Atl!

Thank you! The interview with HR went well, but the lady told me that the manager already had someone in mind for the position and if there were other areas that I was interested in. I was then able to get an appointment to interview with the oncology manager next week. I'm super excited and would really love to get onto that floor. Meanwhile another hospital called me to come in and interview for either cardiac medsurg or rehab so things seem to be looking up :)

Yay! You will have a job before the month is over!

How exciting, see you never gave up so now you may be turning jobs down. That is so great. I think you will have a job by the end of this week. Good luck!

Good luck. I graduated in May. I have a ADN. I was offered a position at Grady... telemetry. I only have 11 months experience as a tech ( I worked at Dekalb not Grady) and I did not know anyone on the inside! From when I applied to when I was offered a position took 10 business days! Don't give up. You will find something. Good luck. Let us know how the interview go!

Update: had my interview with the oncology manager and it went ok. I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before due to anxiety so I didn't think I nailed it. She was nice but it seemed awkward, hard to explain. In any case she said she couldn't officially offer me the position that HR would have to do that so I let her know that I do have an upcoming interview and emphasized my interest. She said she would call HR and concluded with "I look forward to working with you".

Well today I had my second interview for cardiac medsurg and in my mind I was thinking that if they offer it to me I would ask for a day or two to consider just to see if I could get an official offer from the other job. However, the interview went really well and the lady was so nice and offered it to me on the spot. It just felt right so I accepted!

It's weird though how the hiring process is different at each hospital. First hospital I had to interview with HR before the manager and the manager couldn't offer me the job but HR. Second hospital I didn't even see HR until I was filling out tax forms. Now I'm just waiting on all my paperwork to go through! Thanks everyone for all the support!!! :)

Congratulations! Good Luck on your new Journey.

Yay! I knew you would find a position. Being persistent pays off.

Congratulation on your RN job!!! I am also a new grad RN in Virginia but I have my GA license. I have been applying to numerous hospitals for about two weeks no positive leads. I'm ready to move to GA but I need a job first. Any insight on hospitals that I should apply to?? I would love to work at WellStar, North Fulton but any insight would be greatly appreciated

Atlanta hospitals are really hard to get on with. Even places like wellstar which arnt in Atlanta but are still close enough to be competitive. I'm not sure if you have your ADN or BSN, but it should be a little easier if you have your bachelors. Anyways, I used Wikipedia/google to find out all of the hospitals in GA and then typed out all the ones that were an hour or two radius from me. I applied to all the hospitals on my list and was really persistent-over 100 apps. The places that actually called me for an interview were about an hour or so out of Atlanta-Tanner, Floyd, Redmond, and Coliseum. If location isn't an issue then widen your search area. I also checked the websites daily for new postings and applied immediately to the position. I think this is what helped me the most because I got a call back for quite a few brand new openings instead of the ones that have been hanging online for months.

I have an ADN...I have started to look north of Atlanta area..Catersville, Rome, Macon, Snellville..I'm also thinking of looking into Augusta. I havent started applying to Pysch Hospitals..Thank you for the information:)

Do either of you know anything about Eastside Medical? I am starting to apply to residency programs in the Atlanta area and will have an ASN come this December. I will enroll in a BSN upon graduation. I know this may or may not help me, but I have a Bachelors degree in business management. I'll also have 9 months of SNAP (student nurse assistant program where I do everything a CNA does plus basically anything an RN would do under their supervision) experience. I would absolutely love a job in NICU, pediatrics (any floor), or anything in women's (L&D, Mother/Baby) and know these tend to be or can be more competitive. I'll definitely take a med/surg, neuro, oncology/hematology, etc job if I cannot find one in the first ones I mentioned.

Any updates on the hospitals mentioned here? Atlanta Medical, Spalding Regional, West GA Health

I'd like to live in Atlanta and commute but will move if its too far like Northeast GA Health in Gainesville or Medical Collesium in Macon. Thanks!
