Atlanta Hospitals

So I'm pretty much stating the obvious but finding a job in the A has been nothing but extremely difficult!! I don't have any contacts and I'm an ASN prepared nurse and I'm seriously considering relocating! Hospitals I've applied to so far:

-Grady (I even got a rejection email on one of the units I applied to, I thought Grady took everyone!)

-Wellstar (rejected all my applications)

-Piedmont Atl, Fayette, Henry, Newnan (pretty much all rejections)

-Dekalb (all rejections)

-Northside Atl (no response)

-Emory Adventist (no response)

-Floyd (no response)

-Redmond (no response)

-Cartersville (no response)

-Atlanta medical (no response)

-Southern regional (no response)

-Choa (no response)

-some hospital in conyers (no response)

-Tanner-(no response)

-I didn't even apply to Emory bc I think you need a bsn for their residency

I haven't applied to nursing homes or psych hospitals yet. I was gonna wait to see if I got a bite from one of these hospitals. I was hoping I would have luck with rural places but no luck! Let me know if I'm forgetting somewhere! I'm about 40 miles west Atl!

Most hospitals in the Atlanta metro area require that you have a BSN. Have you tried West Georgia health in LaGrange? Or the hospitals in Columbus. You can also try Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Yeah I knew about the bsn preference in Atlanta but it's not a requirement yet because I still know asn nurses getting hired at them. I think emory and wellstar really want a bsn but I know several of my classmates just got on with northside and the hospitals up in Rome so I really think it depends. I looked into Lagrange. They don't have many openings but I'll try them next. I haven't tried to Columbus but I'll look into it. Thanks!

You sound like you may be giving up a little to easy. I would go back to some of those no responses to see who I can reach out to personally, who is the CNO, RN unit mgr? Let them no you are really interested in working at their facility. Sometimes HR can be a little slow, I know I have seen some of the hospitals you mentioned advertising for RN's and they did NOT mention must be BSN prepared. Try again at some of the no responses and good luck to you!

To get hired with an Associates in the Atlanta metro area you really HAVE to know someone or have been working there as a tech beforehand. There's too many BSN programs you're competing with to just walk in off the street.

I know but im not just applying to the metro. A lot of my apps go to places outside of Atlanta like rome, cartersville, conyers, newnan, etc...I've definitely tried calling some of these places units and have left msgs but they don't call back. I'll definitely keep trying though! :)

Piedmont (all of them) will hire ASN prepared nurses. You have to apply to the residency program. Spalding Regional in Griffin hires ASN nurses as well. Southern Regional is on that list too. I know it is very frustrating looking for a job as a new grad. It took me six months after graduation to secure a position. I, like yourself, applied everywhere. I started to grow very depressed, especially when most of my classmates were employed. Don't give up. You will find a position. Continue to be diligent and network. Best of luck to you.

FYI: AMC South Campus and Piedmont Henry are both accepting applications for their med/surgical nurse residency programs. Did you apply specifically to their residency programs? Hang in there.

Thanks! I haven't tried Spaulding yet but I did apply to southern regional. Most of the positions I've applied to were regular nursing positions except for Piedmont-I applied to 3 of piedmonts residencies. 2 of them were at Henry and 1 was at Newnan. I also applied to regular positions there but got rejections. I also applied to Northside Atl new grad residency and a new grad residency at Atl medical.

Don't give up. You will secure a position. Are you able to enroll in an RN-BSN program right now? If so MCCG in Macon will accept ASN graduates as well. Yes, definitely try Spalding. I would call the recruiter directly to find out which floors are hiring new grads. What is your area of interest?
