So I'm pretty much stating the obvious but finding a job in the A has been nothing but extremely difficult!! I don't have any contacts and I'm an ASN prepared nurse and I'm seriously considering relocating! Hospitals I've applied to so far:
-Grady (I even got a rejection email on one of the units I applied to, I thought Grady took everyone!)
-Wellstar (rejected all my applications)
-Piedmont Atl, Fayette, Henry, Newnan (pretty much all rejections)
-Dekalb (all rejections)
-Northside Atl (no response)
-Emory Adventist (no response)
-Floyd (no response)
-Redmond (no response)
-Cartersville (no response)
-Atlanta medical (no response)
-Southern regional (no response)
-Choa (no response)
-some hospital in conyers (no response)
-Tanner-(no response)
-I didn't even apply to Emory bc I think you need a bsn for their residency
I haven't applied to nursing homes or psych hospitals yet. I was gonna wait to see if I got a bite from one of these hospitals. I was hoping I would have luck with rural places but no luck! Let me know if I'm forgetting somewhere! I'm about 40 miles west Atl!
Don't give up girl!!! Make applying for jobs your full time job. Review ur resume. Have your friends and husband critique it. Flood the market...literally apply to anything and everything. Preferably positions at a hospital with an ER you would like to aspire to work at.... this way after a year or two you can transfer.
People suggest calling managers etc. Personally for me this doesn't work as HR is usually required and the managers arent able to take time to talk with people they don't know...like its hard to call the ED or a floor and just ask to talk to the manager. Its worth a try!! But I feel like this advice worked better a long time ago when things were different.
Buy yourself a great interview outfit and prepare well when you land one.
You. Will. Get. A. Job.
now flood the market with apps woman!!!!
**also. Dont not apply anywhere. Like don't not apply at emory bc u heard such and such. What do u have to lose??? Update threat when you have good news!!!!
Thanks you guys! Gamommy81-I did apply to wellstar douglas (it would be very close to future husbands job) as well as cobb, kennestone and hiram. I would love to get on with them but hear they're very selective. I did go ahead and apply to hospitals in Macon. It's about an hour and a forty five to two hours from douglasville so we'd have to split the commute in half by both driving an hour each way to work, but it's better than moving to North Dakota :)
Thank you! The interview with HR went well, but the lady told me that the manager already had someone in mind for the position and if there were other areas that I was interested in. I was then able to get an appointment to interview with the oncology manager next week. I'm super excited and would really love to get onto that floor. Meanwhile another hospital called me to come in and interview for either cardiac medsurg or rehab so things seem to be looking up :)

Thanks! I'm really interested in ER or oncology but I don't mind taking a position in other areas.
