What's everyone doing with their winter break?

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I've got 6 weeks off from next Tuesday until the end of January. I'm taking a winter mini-mester class to finish out my General Education requirements for this BSN and working on campus. I'm just curious to see what everyone else is going to be doing. CNA work? Pre-reading textbooks? What would you recommend to do so I don't forget everything I've learned so far this semester (1st semester of junior year)? Should I go back and type up all my notes so I can have space for more paper in my apartment? Perhaps this has been already asked and if so, please forgive my curiousity.

Let me just say, I hope everyone's going to be enjoying their time off so we can all charge through next semester. Med-Surg and OB for me and 16 hours/week of clinical time.

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

Work, classmate party tomorrow night, work xmas party on sat, get things packed away from moving 3weeks ago, and sleep!!! (especially SLEEP!), I didn't realize how stressed I was until I slept about 13 hrs last night....ahhhh..refreshing....lol.

Specializes in L/D.
Specializes in Psychiatry.
Just working. :o

:yeahthat:

Well I wrapped up Microbiology today and nsg final is on Tuesday. Then I have surgery (T&A) on Thursday. Take mini winterm classes (2 week intense courses) to get my humanites out of the way beginning Jan 7 (my bday!) and then the semester starts back up again. Wont seem much like a break to me.

Oh yeah I have to job hunt too- the daycare I worked at went out of business this week. :(

-sleep

-read about pharm and med-surg

-clean my car and the house

-take out the dog more

-talk with my friends more

-catch up on reading literature

-refresh my lab skills

-can't afford go nowhere at this moment because school and bills deprived me of my finances

How many of those planned things I will do? Hmm maybe 3:lol2:

Mostly cleaning, organizing, but relaxing a lot more than usual too! We did just get our reading assignment for the first week back - 330 pages! And the second week's readings are coming soon. Ugh, no rest for the weary!

BTW I'm jealous of the six week break. We only have four. I'd take two extra weeks!

Have fun everyone!

I'm going on a cruise Sunday, and down to Miami for the Orange Bowl (hubby's whole family went to KU, they're all going too) Jan 3. We start class again on Jan 7, so in between I need to do our entire dosage calculations book - it's due the first week - and start reading for med surg. I wish the syllabus was up already, I'd like to know what I have to read. My last finals were yesterday, and it's very strange to sit here on allnurses when I'm not procrastinating studying.

Catch up on my bills by working my butt off...:uhoh21:

Specializes in Ante-Intra-Postpartum, Post Gyne.

I am taking a Beginning Midwifery class that will go though to April. I am also training to be a Labor Doula which I started over the summer and now finally have time to go to the births I need to get certified. Other than that I am going to relax. My BIL is graduating form the CHP academy but other than that I do not have any trips planned. My husband is a contractor and has been working 14hr days 6 and 7 days a week (only takes days off to get supplies and stuff) so I am not sure if I am going to get to do anything fun this break unless it is with a friend or sister.

Winter Break? What's that? I thought the 4 weeks of accelerated classes were mandatory!?!? DOH!!!!!!

:smackingf

Working FT & Christmas with the kids- and I have been doing math- we have another math test second week of class- I think with some drip factors and stuff- not real hard but my school does NOT teach it. They say buy the book and take the test; good luck, it does not count for a grade but if you don't get a 92% they kick you out. Nice huh?

I also want to start reading my new med surg book I want to buy med surg made incredibly easy and I want to get the study guide that goes with the text book- I'm going to be using these four weeks to study- my time is limited so I am going to use every little bit of free time I can.

Oh - I would like to do some of my scrapping- maybe if I can clear of my scrap desk.
