What kind of BAG do I carry all this stuff in?

I am getting ready to start my first semester of Nursing Program and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to cart around all this stuff (textbooks, clinical supplies, etc.)? Thanks:clown:

I use one of these rolling crate things.

I felt like an idiot wheeling it around at first and I did get some good natured teasing from my classmates. However, by the end of the semester several people told me they were getting one for themselves for the following semester. Everything fits it it very easily and mine has a hard lid which makes a handy place to plop your butt on. Excellent make shift seat. I hate rolling backpacks and the like but my back started giving me trouble (even though I am in excellent shape, thank you p90x). This has been a life saver.

One of my instructors has one of these. She uses it everyday between her office and the classroom (a distance of about 100 feet) Yes this is the same instructor that gives us the case studies. ;)

a cute rolling bag maybe???
Mine is cute!

I take my books because our classes are 4 hrs long. When the instructor gets tired of talking she hands out case studies for us to do. We never know when she is going to do this, and we need our text to answer the questions. Another instructor lectures straight out of the book, and I found the easiest way to take notes, is to highlight what she says.

It would be wonderful if I didn't have to lug everything around, but unfortunately my program doesn't work that way. Since I have everything with me anyway, I usually go to the library after class and do any homework so that once I get home the books can stay in the backpack.

We have to take ALL out books to class because we never know which ones we need. Our instructors are pretty much just pulling stuff out of their *** so we never know what's going to happen.

First, off sorry to offend anyone who use's the rolling bags, but I hate them, and I do think snarky thoughts when I see them. I do feel slightly guilty after having the thoughts. But anyway I have some problems with my back and my husband started pestering me to use a rolling backpack he thought it was the greatest idea ever! He even resorted to asking my chiropractor if I should use one. My chiro told him the rolling backpacks are really bad for you and cause more back problems and that I should just use a properly worn backback instead, even if it is heavy. So victory for me my husband finally gave up! I just use a jansport for class. We do have heavy books and I typically have to take two 1 in binders, plus two books ( I commute and typically study in between classes), my lunch that I packed, and all kinds of other stuff (I'm a packrat). Somedays I do end up carrying the biggest book that we have to decrease the weight of my backpack.

I find that mighty hard to believe.

I push mine, instead of pulling it behind me, and it's relieved the problems I was having. Having your arm in that extended position, rotated that way, I can see where that could cause problems. It sure did for me. So now I just pretend I'm doing deliveries on a hand cart and push my rolling bag. It doesn't steer for poop, but it's made my shoulder much happier.

I'm not sure what kind of position you get into to use your rolling bag, but I have my arm straight down by my side, holding the handle. I don't put my arm behind me.

Good for you.

I have to bring all my books since I don't take my car to school with me. I have long breaks between classes sometimes and I need every moment of that precious time to study =). I got a Jansport Driver 8 rolling backpack that I am going to break out for this new semester. I hope it helps! It's pretty large and I still feel like I need something bigger.

I stil vote for a wagon! :D

I don't get all the hate for rolling backpacks and I don't know what school some of you guys are going to if you don't even need your books. At my school...for one thing, almost all the books are huge. Even just one class worth of books will kill you. On top of that, they never tell us ahead of time what we will need. If you try to pack light, they will say, "Hey, everybody needs their..." and it will be the one thing you didn't bring. I'm using a rolling backpack and it's certainly not because I'm trying to make a statement about how studious I am. In addition, at clinical we are expected to have 2 different drug books, which are small but thick, plus our lab tests book, plus our clinical packet (big thick notebook), plus any other books we might need to reference skills or conditions, plus steth, penlight, etc., so I can't even manage to pack light for that.
