Nursing school is tough. I have had my share of breakdowns, tears, frustration, happines... the whole rollercoaster ride of emotions. But when it comes down to it, how do you relieve all that stress of nursing school.

If your up to it, please share your hints with us all.

My stress reliefs:

1. a month calendar with everything charted on it from assignments, projects to exams, even holiday and breaks =D

2. yoga/exercise

3. hanging out with classmates, friends, family after exams

4. my puppy

Specializes in Psych..

Specializes in Hospital-Med Surg, Subacute, Rehab..

I understand your "pain", when I was in nursing school for my LPN my instructors stated "we own you, your friends, family and jobs are no longer your #1 priority". Make sure to squeeze in time for yourself, take long walks, get together with classmates for lunch/dinner, get pedicures. I use to exercise 3 to 4 times a week right after class to relieve the stress and clear my mind.

Specializes in None.

I want to get a weight set and a punching bag, combined with Tae-Bo, pilates, and dancing, and the occasional jog I should be good to go!!

If you have babies or young children....

Nothing made me happier after a tough day than watching my kids play, laugh, and tell me they love me.:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe They make everything okay.

Just being honest here...

1. Come home and vent for awhile

2. Blog on MySpace, blasting whoever I want (profile set to private, no names used, etc).

3. Sometimes blog on private blog where I can use names and really go nuts.

4. Plot my revenge (usually involves going to pinning ceremony and flipping everyone off...yeah, like that's really gonna hurt anyone but me, lol--end result will be like # 8).

5. See my therapist each week to discuss my stress level.

6. Take my anti-anxiety meds.

7. Occasionally get a nice bottle of red wine and watch Family Guy and Auqua Teen Hunger Force...never fails to make me laugh.

8. Watch House and try to make mental notes of all the hilarious zingers I can pull out on classmates/instructors...but ultimately chicken out or forget them when push comes to shove.

9. When time allows, obsessively clean my house...down to cleaning the sponge I'm using to clean with.

Healthy? No. But it gets me out of bed every day and keeps me on my toes enough to make A's each semester (occasionally a B). Fear of failure is my motivator. And yeah...I'm neurotic.

1. Eating well

2. I don't drink or smoke

3. I ride horses and there is nothing to get rid of stress like jumping on a horse and taking a nice ride in the country or heading to a barrel race. It also counts as my exercise.

4. Spending time with family and friends, especially with my 5 year old son and my 3 year old niece.

5. Writing cards and letters to family.

6. My Corgi dog.

7. Obsessively cleaning my house when I get mad.

8. Taking a long relaxing bubble bath.

9. Realizing all the hard work will pay off very shortly.
