what are your plans for SPRING BREAK!

Nursing Students General Students

I'm now on spring break and was wonder what others are doing. I'm doing all the things that I don't do during the semester. Sleeping, spoiling my family and shopping. Loving every minute of it. Oh yes, I've also checked the syllabus and am reading too!

I need more time....

Hope you are enjoying or about to enjoy your spring break!

Today's my first day without classes... and hubby took the kids and went to CA. I am heading to bed... even though it's only 6:45! I have books piled up that I'd like to read. Then when I nap enough, I got 4 videos to watch this weekend. I am not doing anything productive!

On Monday I am going on a class "field trip". I am in a transcultural nursing class and we are going to Kalaupapa on the island of Molokai. That is the place where the leprosy patients were isolated. There are still about 40 patients there... they are 'cured' but have chosen to remain there until they die. The state of Hawaii takes care of them there because of the injustice inflicted on them. It should be a great trip... I'm so excited. It will be peaceful and quiet and a wonderful opportunity to learn about the people of Kalaupapa.

When I get home I'll have 2 more days before family returns... and I will clean my house for the first time all semester! :p

Vegas is going to be interesting to say the least. My husband is a self-declared cheap bastard and wants to do everything that we have coupons for. Like hotel rooms, food, gambling etc. We are gonna try to do the whole trip for less than $600 and yes that is including airfare.

Manna, Josh was taking classes in the fall, but with the job change and move he took this semester off. None of the schools down here really offer what he wants/needs but he found a distance learning program at Miss State that has all of the classes he needs plus a bunch that he wants to take. It's pretty cool actually, he'll only have to go to Starkville at the end of the program, which is 2 years long, to do some sort of workshop for a week and then he will qualify for a second bachelors. he's excited about it, about as excited as he gets anyway, so I am happy for him.

I'm flying to San Diego for two 2 job interviews and then driving up the coast for an interview in Santa Barbara. All Labor & Delivery postions!

It's going to be hectic craming 3 job interviews in one trip; not much time to enjoy the California sunshine. But...I'm so excited!!! Graduating in June and job interviewing now. Oh man, now I'm getting nervous.

I can't believe it's getting so close. Seems like I've been in school forever!!

My spring break came and went. I had a lot of plans but sadly, or maybe blessedly because she had been sick with chronic health problems for so long, my mom passed away day two into the break. Because of school and work, I really didn't allow myself the time to grieve. Or maybe I grieved before she left us because she had been sick for so long. I don't know. All I know is that I can't stop till summer comes. My instructors have offered me the option of "talking to someone" but I'm still functioning like nothing happened... didn't miss a day of school or work and in the top 5% of my class. I know that doesn't sound healthy but it's what I have to do for now.

My break also came and went. I had planned on enjoying the peace and quiet of my house. I still had to get up at 0630 because my kids didn't get the week off. Their break is the fist full week in April. Anyway, on the first Saturday 3 of my kids got in a fist fight with the boy across the street. He is 13. My 9 y/o got in the fight first, because the 13 y/o stoled his magnets. When Jake went back outside to hit him, the 13 y/o RAN!!!!

I don't condone fighting, but sometimes a kid has to do what a kid has to do...ya know? My 13 y/o got involved, [just to make sure Jake didn't kill the kid :D ] Josh [my 13 y/o, got hit and was coming home when my 17 y/o daughter caught up with them. She went to see what was going on and SHE got hit by this kid. She took him down. To make a long story short, I talked to the kid's mother and explained what happened and why. Then I banned her boys from my house for a week, thereby gauranteeing me a week of peace and quiet....NOT!!

On Monday night she was arrested for probation violation on a charge of forgery!! I had no idea. I ended up taking her kids in; the 13 y/o and his 7 y/o brother. Her mother was driving up from Alabama and I was to watch them until she got to my house. A 12 hr. drive and she didn't leave until 0600 the next day.

The 13 y/o was on oss [out of school suspension] so I spent my second day of Spring break babysitting the kid who stoled my kid's magnets, and punched my 13 and 17 y/olds. I was NOT happy!! His grandma finally showed up at 6pm and as far as I know, the boys mother is looking at 2-3 yrs in prison for her little stunt.

On Wednesday, I shuttled a lady and her son to the bank and picked them up at Wal mart. She is diabetic, on dialysis and in general poor health.

On Thursday I had my one day of peace and quiet. I couldn't wait for SB to be over. I got a phone call from the lady on Tuesday, wanting me to bring her her diabetic strips at the HOSPITAL because she didn't think the nurses were doing their job. I got out of that one by telling her I was back inschool and didn't have time.

We were supposed to go to Indy to visit my parents, but a wind storm came up and two of my kids were sick...so I didn't get to go. The last time I saw them was over Christmas. I can't go now until July because I am taking microbiology the first 5 weeks of summer school.

Anyway, I hope everybody who is on spring break has a great time and are relaxed when they come back to school!!

Kitty, I am very sorry too for your loss.
