nursing magazine info please
Thank you for all your suggestions. I have read a copy of RN and RN 2005. They seem pretty good. I would like to find out where to get the Incredibly Easy at. Do bookstores carry stuff like this or is there a web site to visit.

Should I Even Attempt To Become an RN?
Wow, I'm sure glad I found this. I have the same problem. I get so tired of people in school asking me why my hands shake. I am so glad to know that others have the same problem. The only problem I have run into with mine is when we checked out on intradermal shots. It took me a couple of times due to my tremors. Maybe we should start a support group.:chuckle I might talk to my doc about that Lopressor. I currently take Lorazepam .5mg, three times a day. But it doesn't seem to be enough. Thanks for the thread.

Do you use powder on your patients?
:) Thank you for all your information on this. I knew powder was bad for the lungs and also can cause yeast infection. But I wasn't aware of the cancer link. I think I will try to avoid using it on my future patients. Thanks for all your great responses.

Do you use powder on your patients?
I am a first year nursing student. The other day one of our instructers informed us to never ever put powder on a patient. She said if they asked us to, we should inform them that we won't do it. Then let them know how bad it is for their skin. Today we had another instructor encourage us to use powder. She said it won't harm patients as long as their skin is dry and it works great to freshen them up. Do you use powder in your health care facility? Do you find it beneficial or harmful? Just looking for opinions from you more experienced nurses out there. Thanks

Why are you REALLY going into nursing? Honest answers please.
oops! Sorry if I wasn't clear on my post. Thanks for your concern, but my son did make it and now is a healthy 9 year old. But just seeing the care and concern of the nurses during the ordeal was wonderful. It is heart wrenching to have your baby sick and still in the hospital, while you go home. But the nurses were great at understanding. They helped him make it, so I hope to be able to do the same for someone elses' loved one.

Why are you REALLY going into nursing? Honest answers please.
I decided 9 years ago that I wanted to be a nurse. When I had my second child, I almost lost him. He spent a week and a half in the hospital. I was there everyday watching those nurses take care of my son and keeping him going. I decided right then that I wanted to be nurse. Kind of my way of giving back. It never seemed the right time to get started until now. Yes, I do financially need this right now. I am just glad to finally get this opportunity.

How do you support yourself in Nursing School??
I work part-time and receive the pell grant. It's not a lot but it has paid for my school so far. I am starting the nursing program in the fall. So I expect to take out a student loan also. For all single parents... as said in an earlier post, get all the public assistance you can. It's only temporary and it really helps. I even have a scholarship at the local YMCA. They provide great childcare for my children.:)

13yr olds having babies.
I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Mine is 15 yrs old and I am constantly worried about this happening to her. Especially, since I was a teenage mother myself 15 years ago. Whatever you do don't blame yourself. It sounds like you did everything you could do to warn your daughter about these things. She made this decision and there is nothing you could have done to change her mind about this. Now you must look forward. Be there for your daughter and baby. Go to classes with her on child birth. Encourage her to stay in school. Help her financially if needed. But most of all show her that you will stand behind her and that you are not ashamed of her. Encourage her to finish school and go to college for the welfare of her baby.
