Valencia College Nursing Fall 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I received my acceptance letter to Valencia's Nursing Program for Fall 2015! I haven't been able to find anyone else for this semester, so I figured I'd start a new thread!

Orientation is July 17th, and I guess we'll find out everything needed at that time, but does anyone have an idea what else we can do to prepare until then?

I'm so excited, I cannot wait! It seems like it's taken forever to get here (going to RN school), but now it seems like it went by in the blink of an eye.

Thanks in advance & good luck future nurses!

I am starting this fall too! I can't wait!

Welcome guys. I started in the spring. Now in Nursing 2. You can start reading in the fundamentals book. and get a copy of "Fudamentals of Success" book. It shows you how to study and lots of practice questions. Test are a whole lot different then what you are use to. So practicing test taking will help you figure out how to study. If I get a chance, I will post the chapters we had on our first test to get you started. Oh, and the library has copies of the book. However, you will need to buy one with the codes, etc. So don't buy, until you know exactly what is on your book list for you term. Other wise, see if a friend will loan you theirs or get a used one cheap.

Thanks, Spangle Brown!

I'm looking forward to starting!! I'm dropping to part-time at work. I work in the Neurosurgery O.R currently. I plan to start weekends only come the end of August! And school during the week. I'm anxious to figure out how the classes are scheduled, and exactly how the program will run. I guess I'll find that out come orientation.

So exciting and nerve wracking at the same time!!

So, the fundamental book are what exactly; title wise? Again, I know we wont haven an exact book list till orientation. I'm glad you are from the Spring class, you can give me a huge insight on how everything works!

Good luck to you!

Hey everyone ! I just applied for fall, I was just wondering how long it took you guys to hear back from Valencia?

Congrats on your acceptance. I was working 32 hours every weekend and by the time I was halfway through my nursing 2 I had to quit it was too much and it affected my grades. On nursing 3 I got a high B in the course. It doesn't get any easier further down the semesters. See how you do on the first semester then make your decision to continue or quit either way your employer can hire you back just don't burn your bridges. This summer semester is brutal lots of work and mostly you are on your own in nursing 5. Unless you know someone. Best of luck to you. You will do well.

Trick to finding the present book list. Go to the Valencia online bookstore. Right now all the classes are at West, so just check there. No matter the teacher, the books will all be the same. The only difference, each term there is a chance that the books will change. But this way, you can get an idea of what to expect. Some books you can get used, some you need to get at the Valencia book store because the need to have codes, etc. As far as days and times. Nursing 1 is Monday through Thursday. Lectures Monday and Wed Morning and Labs are all day Tuesday and Thursday. Missing lab isn't an option, and all lab time must be made up. I bought the dosage book, but never used it. They will spend a day teaching it in a boot camp.

I applied in mid/late Feb, and heard back early April! But I know that they are still accepting. Good lucky!

That is great to hear Spangle Brown. That gives me a MUCH better idea of what to look into. Thanks so much!

I'm starting this fall as well :) I'm so nervous but excited can't wait!

I applied mid May. I wonder if they will go by GPA and teas scores if there are a lot of applicants that apply on the same day or maybe week? Any idea how full they are? I wonder if they are near the cut-off for fall.

I also get accepted to Valencia and I apply to the nursing program around march 25th and hear from May the 12th. I am so excited and curious at the same time
