The WORST day of my life....

Nursing Students General Students

So, I was basically about to pee my pants with excitement for orientation this morning. I got all ready to hear all about everything. Well, I get over to financial aid, expecting them to tell me they owe me $400..however, she said-"You owe $1100, how do you want to pay?". I freak out, because I am already using all the money I have, and I do not want to take out anymore loans. My school is $630/credit hour. And, I just can not afford it. So, looks like I will not be going to nursing school this year after all.

I am too upset for words....I just don't know what else to do.:sniff:

I am very sorry to hear this!! I pray that they made a mistake and that you can stay in school!!

There are some private loans you can get, does your school have a deferred payment plan so you can get started at least???

I will be praying for you!:heartbeat

Don't give up your dream. Have you tried other options? Many hospitals pay for your tuition in exchange for an agreement to work for so long. Also your local state board of nursing may have scholarships available. Look into the WIA grant. Just a couple of options that I can think of.

Oh no!!! PLEASE don't give up...Can you get a credit card to pay it? Naybe make payments??? I wish you luck!

Oh my...I am so sorry! I hope you are able to figure something out with them. Can't you fill out a special circumstances form in the Financial Aid office? I'd ask more questions about it...try try try!!! I hope it works out...keep us posted!

With my school, I am able to make monthly payments...ask and see if there is a way you can set that up with them!

Were you able to find out what happened? You obviously didn't pick $400 out of thin air.....if you find out the discrepancy you might me able to sort it out.

Peace,

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are able to get it all worked out. If not, if you are interested in the online program at RSCC, the deadline is Sept 1st so you could still apply for it. If that is something you're interested in.

Agree with others- you need to figure out the discrepancy first.

Then if they are right about the money, ask what options they can suggest to you.

Worst case, can you put it on a low rate (or no rate) credit card? You could hopefully make the low minimum payments. I know it seems like a lot of money to you now, but after you become an RN, you will be able to pay it back quickly.

Dont give up!!!! Try and get a loan, then find a job in a hospital that offers tuition reimbursement (you usually have to work a year). Work as a behavioral health aid, and do 1:1s while you read.

Just dont give up, where theres a will theres a way!

I would start selling stuff on Ebay LOL

I agree...look at your options. When does school start? If you still have a few weeks, I would sure inquire about a payment plan, financial aide, a loan, partial payment or something! Your mind is already on this, probably already made arrangements for your life and it may be even more expensive later on.

Hey everyone. Thanks for your suggestions and words of encouragement. After talking with my family, my best and really only option is to take out more loans. I already called the loan company and was approved for the extra $1100.

You guys are the best!!:heartbeat

I'm glad you are going to be able to do it, it sucks that you have to take out more loans but at least you do have that option.
