any good sites to get a stethoscope? and recommendations?

I just bought a Littman Cardiology III at allheart.com. This steth is fantastic! I spent about 15 years working in a noisy environment and my hearing isn't what it used to be. I couldn't hear anything out of the steth that was supplied to me from my CNA school or the Sprague style steth that I had so I was a little concerned. However, with the Cardiology III I can hear everything clearly!

There are some mixed reviews on this site about ordering from allheart.com. However, I couldn't be more pleased. I placed my order on Sunday and received the steth on Thursday. I would recommend that you order early to beat the Christmas and new semester rush.........

I too would go with a Littmann. However, I have a Littmann Lightweight, and I love it!

Make sure you get a light stethoscope, my neck killed me when I had a heavy one on it, and the littmann lightweight I barely even feel!

This is a link to the one I have: Its limited, but it good for a regular med surg floor. http://www.3m.com/us/healthcare/professionals/littmann/jhtml/lightweight_ii_se_ns.jhtml

I've ordered from allheart before, its not terrible. I got mine at a local med supply store though, it ran me about 45$. not bad for a great stethoscope.

I have a 3M Littmann (Master Classic II). I love it. http://www.3M.com/Littmann or you can get them at http://www.allheart.com or do a web search for comparison pricing.

I also recommend getting your name engraved on the tubing. No one has walked off with mine yet :)

I bought an ultrascope. Love the design too :)

I like my littman lightweight, it's one of the less expensive littman's, it works very well, and comes in nice colors too!

I bought an ultrascope last year..I seem to hear better with my 10 dollar cheapy from 25 years ago. Too much ambient noise amplification

I also recently bought a Littmann Cardiology III from http://www.Allheart.com

The steth is AWESOME!! I was having some trouble hearing other steths, so I went ahead and spent the cash for this one. I can hear now!!:wink2:

My steth shipped pretty quick also. I had them put my name on there right away, so it took an extra day or two, but not as long as I thought it might have taken.

Not the best choice if you're on a tight budget, though. with my name on there, my steth was almost $150. (Which is why I bought it now - before I get too broke!:lol2: )

Good luck!!

I also have a Littmann Cardiology III, and I also LOVE it. I can't hear anything out of other 'scopes compared to mine! I bought mine when I was an EMT student, road noise makes breath sounds even harder to hear, but with mine I can hear just fine while driving. The other day I even heard a murmur that my instructor couldn't hear with the cheap stethoscope he had with him! If it wouldn't have annoyed him, I probably would have handed mine to him and asked him to try listening through it. But, it would have annoyed him so I didn't.

The drawback to the Littmann Cardiology III is it's price, but I looked at it as an investment. Hopefully, it will last a long time and pay for itself.

I bought mine from http://www.steeles.com , I bought it on Saturday and had it delivered on Tuesday! They had the cheapest prices that I could find, right now the Littmann Cardiology III is $122.99.

I start school in January and had orientation on Monday. Much to my surprise, the nurse in charge of the skills lab recommended buying a $10 cheapie because "You're going to lose it anyway." I don't want to do that because I've had a cheapie around the house and I can't hear ANYTHING with it.

I got a Littman Cardio III and I love it. I practice on all my family members. I forgot which place I got it from but it came with a free student kit and it was cheaper than allheart.com. Its a really good stethoscope. You should see first if your schools requires anything specific though since some schools do. Good Luck

Wow, I've NEVER lost my stethescope yet! I have forgotten it at home on occassion, but never lost it.

And I've got a Littman Classic II SE and I love it to death. I've heard a lot of good things about the Cardiology ones and I've put it on my list to my family for something they'd like to get me post-graduation. I'm doing PCU (pulmonary/cardiac unit) and I wish I had the Cardiac scope to hear the different heart murmurs, but the Classic has done very well for me as well. I was stupid and went to Life Uniform which was recommended by the college rather than shopping around because I paid like $97 for mine (last fall) and I saw it online for almost half that price.....:angryfire
