For all of you starting Nursing school in sept, Congrats!!!!!

I guess we've all heard horror stories about how difficult it can be, and about how hard it can be to balance family, school, and clinicals.....

Soooooo...........

I'm wondering how you all plan on spending your summer, i mean it's your last free time for a long time. So, anything special planned? Any road trips or pleasure reading? Lazy days on the hammock?

I know that other than textbook reading, I'm planning as many weekend trips with my partner and son as i can possibly fit in... and i'ma sleep in at least once a week...spend some days at the beach...and my yard will get lots of attention in the form of landscaping and flower-planting.

wooooooohooooo!

enjoy your summer!!

I"m starting at the end of August too. I've also been reading Echo Heron--I bought Intensive Care, and then got Condition Critical from the library. Other than relaxing and putting my feet up when I feel like it, I plan on reading as many pleasure books as possible, because I sure missed reading while taking my pre-reqs this past year.

Other than that, I'm counting down the weeks until I can quit my job, taking a CPR course in early August, and probably having surgery for severe GERD before school starts.

Hi Bucky,

I finished Intensive Care in about 2.5 days. I loved it. I could not put it down at all and even hid it in my desk at work and would read when no one was looking.

Let me know how Condition Critical is. Yeah, I agree, she did go a little whacko a few times.

I also picked up that Test Taking Guide for Student Nurses that you recommended. I am about half way through it. I thought a few of the chapters were a little tough to get through but I am really enjoying going through the practice tests.

Maybe it's just me but I am having diffculty thinking/rationalizing for why I pick certain answers based on if they contain the same "stem" or the answers are "negative" where the question is looking for a positive answer but I think just doing the samples is helping me get into the "multiple choice" frame of mind.

I start the program in August too.

I get 10 days off, so I think me and my man are going to take off to Las Vegas for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday!

I'm really excited, yet nervous about starting the program. I hope I'll have what it takes to be a nurse!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! VEGAS!

what a way to blow off a little summer steam! I hope you have an awesome time!!!!

:chuckle Thank you!!

I've never been.......... but plan to enjoy!!!

If I'm accepted ( I should know around Jne 15th)...I plan on doing lots of things with my children. They are going to take swimming lessons, my dh and I have to teach them how to ride bikes. I'm in the process of teaching my 2 yr. old to use the potty...I don't know how long that's going to take...lol. We're planning a weekend at Sesame Place and at Busch Gardens. Lots of cooking out, kite flying, reading and crafts....I know there is so much more to do...

Fatima (who's going ga-ga waiting for this letter)

i'm starting in august. hopefully, i'll get a job this summer. right now i'm spending time with my mom and sister, who's about to have a baby, and reading "chicken soup for the nurse's soul". pretty good so far, you might want to check it out if you haven't read it.

August is my time to start the ADN program!! My two youngest and I are going to Arkansas to visit family and to the Ozarks for a couple of days of camping!! Then we will swim a lot and maybe visit the beach in July.
