....and I got the one that tastes like crap, this semester:chuckle .

Here I have been excited for over a month because my clinical assignment this semester was supposed to be in a small community hospital very close to my home, no big city traffic to contend with.

SURPRISE....three days before first clinical I get an e-mail that the hospital had too many student groups, and we have to go to another hospital. HA! Of course, the new location is 40 minutes away, involving a drive through absolutely chaotic, death traffic:( .

Oh, well. Must be flixible, I suppose. At least I don't have child care issues arising from this, like some of the other students. Also, the hospital may be an interesting place to do clinicals. It is a rehabilitation hospital.

Here's hoping the rest of you manage to avaoid those bitter chocolates this semester!;)

Sorry to hear of the lousy box of chocolates you received.

Forty minutes -- compared to 10 -- is a haul.

hee hee just remember those "good" chocolates tend to make you gain weight if you eat the whole box...

i wish chocolate tasted bad sometimes...maybe i could lose a few...just teasing

hope it all will work out for the best...just remember, when one door closes, another one opens...

good luck!

But that yucky piece of chocolate might have a yummy creamy filling. My commute to and from school everyday averages 45 min. to an hour, depending on traffic and construction. If you just relax, put on some good music or an audio book, you might enjoy it. I do; it's the only time of the day that I get to myself. :chuckle

What's the saying, when life gives you bad chocolates, make a milkshake?:chuckle You'll get through it, it's only temporary. If you record your lecture, it might be a great time to listen to some of it while you're driving. Good luck!

Don't give up on that chocolate yet...

last semester I chose a more obscure clinical in a hospital I knew nothing about. What a great experience! We got lots of hands on with an instructor who was assertive about letting us practice.

Many chose the hospital that had a better rep closer to campus... they pushed a lot of wheelchairs, did very little patient care.

It's true... you never know what is inside that chocolate!

Here's hoping the best for your change!

Ah Leesieberg, that death traffic thing sucks. Maybe this hospital will offer you something better that you couldn't get at the one originally assigned?? Let's hope.

Palm Beach county is Florida's largest geographically. I live at the uttermost south end. I got lucky this semester but next semester, I could wind up doing my clinical 60 miles away at the other end chugging up I95 at a snails pace. Once again, let's hope (not!!!).

One of the hospitals our class does clinicals at is a little over one hour away. I'll start at this one, supposed to be there for four weeks, and then rotation at the one here in town, only three minutes away. Oh well, get the long driving one out of the way first.

Where in Ohio are you? I am doing my clinicals this quarter at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. Small but not too small I suppose and for me it's somewhat of a drive. I'm just praying that we don't have much snow this winter. The route to get there is only two lane highway and early in the AM when it's dark....well, it's tricky to say the least.:D

Ladytopaz, I live in a bitty little town in Wayne County, and go to school in Akron. I'm way up here, pretty close to the lake. I am right there with ya, hoping we don't get a lot of really bad snow this year.

Thanks, everybody, for the nice words and humorous replies! It makes me feel better to know that we're all in this together!:kiss

I think I am over my initial disappointment now, and am finally starting to get excited about getting back into things. I just found out that a portion of our clinical this semester will be in a child care facility. How fun!

Hey Leesiebug~

Hang in there and try to learn all you can from the experience...living along the lake is beautiful (my Dad lives in Huron, and I was born in Sandusky.... :))

Just be careful when that winter wind starts to blow...winter up there can be very dangerous...give yourself plenty of time to get where your going! Use your time to listen to tapes of lectures (or notes) in your car!

Good Luck!

Hugs~

Julie :)
