Recording Lectures

Hi, This is my first semester in nursing school & I was thinking about recording the class lectures. My friend would like to buy me a recorder but I wasn't sure if I should let her purchase me one.

I would like input on recording lectures. What is the best recorder to buy? What brand interests you the most? Which recorder has the best quality & sound? How often do you listen to your lectures? Do you find that listening to your lectures repeatedly helps? Did your grades improve? Any info will help. I'm just trying to see if I should have one.

Not sure why a professor would object to a student recording the lecture. Depending on your state and the laws within it, you, by law, may be able to record, as long as one party is aware that recording is going on. The one party can be you! Now, if your state is a two-party law, don't secretly record!!

Hi guys, My Professors said No to the recordings. Which is fine. They didn't give me a reason nor do I care to ask. Thanks for the replies.

A lecture is not a private conversation where the speaker would have an expectation of confidentiality. This is a poor excuse, and does not have the force of law behind it. If they don't want you to record them, that's one thing, and they can say that. But let's not worry about it being illegal.

I will respect there wishes. By the way I reside in Florida.

When I got my smart pen I started recording lectures and did not make a big production out of it, partly because I didn't want to advertise the fact that I had an expensive recording device. My phys instructor at the time said he didn't care if we recorded him.

Some of my professors were starting to offer podcasts of their lectures when I was in school. I never listened to them though
