Reading over the break, UGH

I just heard a horrible rumor (LOL) that we're going to be assigned reading over the winter break - as in 500 pages worth. While I know this isn't a *tragedy*, this is the first time in over a year that I was actually planning to have a BREAK, as in NOTHING to study. I'm so depressed! I guess they're afraid our brains will atrophy if they don't give us something to do.

Anyone else?

I just plain wouldn't do it.

I just plain wouldn't do it.

Unfortunately, I just couldn't NOT do it. That's my own fault, I'm just anal that way and it would make me crazy. I stress way too much about grades. My plan (yes, ANAL!) is to figure out how many pages per day with the number of days off I need for Christmas (and visiting my parents for four days), so I can do however long it takes per day. But I'm still ticked off about it!

Can you read it aloud into a tape machine and then play it while you travel or whatever?

Just a thought. And I'm sorry. I remember the relief of time off in nursing school - the stress and exhaustion were incredible.

That's a double negative...so you really could do it?!? Sorry, just kidding. We actually have to complete a group project over the break, and do a worksheet. It is really hard trying to find time to get together to do a project when we all have our own lives and especially driving to each others homes when we all live about 20-40min from each others homes. Not practical, but we don't really have a choice to do it or not.

I actually wish we could just read.

HA well, I'm not an English major! I don't know how else I could have put that.

Anyway, I feel better now, we just finished a group project on Thursday and I too would rather read any day of the week! In fact, if I never have to do another group project in my LIFE it will be too soon!!!

Good luck with that!

Thanks!

We have assigned reading between each semester, plus over winter break we have to do ALL of the problems in our med calc book. I'm a math geek, always have been, almost majored in math when I went for my first degree, but there is no test I can take to get out of doing 100 pages of adding fractions and decimals (then another 100 of actual med calc - it's the first part that's irritating). I'm sorry, but I could do that when I was 8. Still, we have 4 weeks for break, I'm going on a cruise for one of them, and I'm not taking any school stuff along.

I wish I could let myself relax enough not to read. I tend to try and get a jump start on my next semester when I am in between semesters. Actually, studying is so much a part of my routine that when it comes time to take a break, I just don't know what to do with myself. I guess I could get my house clean and cook better meals for my family- :uhoh3:

Well, I'm with you on that one . . . I don't know what I would do with myself, but my house does need a really, really good cleaning - which I intend to do since I'll only have the reading and no assignments, classes, etc.

I am planning to take the day after finals and do NOTHING. No cleaning, nothing. LOL I'll probably be bored out of my mind!
