Rant about knuckleheads that start threads.....

Why don't you just ignore those threads and only click on the ones your are interested in to save the time and aggravation? :saint:

Who cares what someone chooses to name their thread? I mean really, if we're going to get picky because somebody out there doesn't like a title, than we're pretty petty. If someone needs help and shows it in their title, I'll go ahead and check it out becauses I learn alot from not only the op, but all of the replies. As a busy student, maybe they don't have the time or energy to come up with a neat little diddy to get other's attention. Pretty sad when we start coming down on fellow students that are asking for help.

If someone has the time, in the actual post, to present the problem, why can't they come up with a neat little ditty . . . ? Or not even a ditty but just say I need help with "blank"?

This is an honest request - and the OP might get more replies to a specific stated problem.

I agree and don't think it has anything to do with being petty. It just seems like a no-brainer to me that you will get more hits if you name your thread something related to the actual subject you are inquiring about. Like someone suggested I rarely open posts with non-specific titles just because I also don't have the time to dinkle around with something that I may have no knowledge about or interest in.

P.S. how about the ones that post a question, get great responses and don't even have the courtesey to reply with a quick 'thanks' or update. How difficult is that to do?

Hey, I agree. I start many threads and a catchy title really helps. What I'm saying is, don't sweat the small stuff. There are plenty of threads on allnurses.com.

I actually find threads to answer by doing an advanced search for certain specific key words. I have found care plan and nursing diagnosis questions in some very odd forums that way. Also, when I'm a logged in member and I roll my cursor over a thread title the first few lines of the thread are revealed to me as a teaser, so I can get an idea of what the OP has started off saying. Doesn't that happen for you as well?

I try to always look at threads entitled "Help". I've answered enough questions on these forums to understand that some students that post this way are genuinely lost. For some, these student forums are like a last life line for them to grab at as they are drowning. I've been hanging out on this and the student assistant forum daily for over 3 years and can tell you that there aren't very many subjects posted here that haven't been brought up before. What changes is the emotional content and personality each person puts into their post.

Now, let's look at the title of this thread. "Rant about knuckleheads that start threads..." It includes name calling, and it fails to specify what the OP's complaint is. So, you can say that the OP, also, doesn't title his threads informatively or specifically enough.
