Questions on my final and I passed!

I was so close to failing and technically I failed fundamentals, but for some reason they passed me. These stupid tests are what get me. Is this the case for every other nursing program out there? They put these test questions on exams and on the final that were never discussed. One questions dealt with who you would call if you were working in a research hospital and you had orders for an experimental drug that you couldn't find in a drug book. I don't even know what chapter in the textbook I would find that in? It was never discussed. I don't get why a question like that proves that you have any sort of knowledge that you need? I would call everyone I could until I find out? Probably my manager first? Another question dealt with what you do with a dead Hindu. I still don't know what to do with a dead Hindu! Its not in my book either.

On the NCLEX you will need to apply what you know about safe and appropriate nursing practice to information you have never seen before, so these awful tests you take through pre-RN school attempt to prepare you for that.

My nursing program told us all to get used to not getting A's! A lot of my classmates had at least one test they did poorly on. My lowest score was a 87% so I was pretty excited. But yeah, most of the questions I'm between two answers and which one is the "most right" or "most accurate"... Frustrating! But I guess I'm a pretty good judge

I mean, I tried my very best on every test and I scored horribly every time pretty much. I think God allowed me to score an 80 on one test and that is the only reason I passed. On that test when I had eliminated all but two answers I literally guessed the one that I hadn't chose which ends up being the right one. So frustrating.

My class started off with 41 students. We are down to 31 in the first semester. Hope I can hang in there. Oh, and I'm the only man now. The other guy must have guessed wrong because he was a whole percent higher on his grade going into the final! I had a 74% and he had a 75%.

Nursing tests are very hard and I think this is probably true for most programs. I have found that some instructors do throw in more bad questions compared to others. I compensate by knowing the other material well enough for that not to screw me. This is a fact of life in nursing school until you get that one instructor who sees it as an obligation to eliminate those questions.

Truckinusa, do you remember your possible answers? The reason I ask is because I used to work in research, and the nurses would typically call the research office to speak to one of the research coordinators or the principal investigator about the study drug. While the hospital pharmacists would have a copy of the investigator's brochure, they might not always know where to find the information quickly.

I believe it was either call the primary care provider or call the pharmacy and investigate further. My nurses at work says it was call the doctor. I don't know for sure what the answer was.

In this case- it would be to call the pharmacy then the doctor after. Questions can kill me too and I'll b graduating in March. Lol. I barely passed Fundamentals. HA

Did it become easier as you went on? I'm going to be doing adult I they call it. It is Med-Surg, some psych nursing and looks like lab tests by the books we need?
