Potter & Perry: Fundamentals 7th Ed. Errors in NCLEX Questions

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am finding that the Potter & Perry text is a horrible text and the N-Clex Questions at the end of the chapters have the wrong answers. My text also came with a CD with N-Clex questions. The automated answers for these are wrong as well. Does anyone have a link to Errata for this book? I am hoping that there are online corrections posted.

When we addressed this with my professor, she indicated we should "use our critical thinking" to find the right answers. I thought this was an insane comment, as she had consistently directed us to the "end of the chapter questions" to prepare for her exam and we are in week 4 of our first semester.

Sorry I don't have the info you are looking for, but I wanted to say that my program uses this text as well, and I am finding it riddled with errors: not just the NCLEX questions at the end, but countless typos throughout the chapters. I can't understand how a book could go to market with that many mistakes...

Wondering now if you and I could even be at the same school! An error was pointed out to the instructor last week before a quiz and I heard a similar response.

Don't even know how much I paid for the book. It came as part of a book package ($585.00:bluecry1:) and was combined with my other texts. The grand-total for all of my texts was over $800. At that price, I am expecting that they would be accurate. I noticed the typos but I am not experienced enough to know if the content is off as well.

I'm in NY. Maybe we are at the same school or maybe it's an easy go to for instructors when students ask certain questions, "Use your critical thinking skills."

On a positive note, when I discussed this with my clinical instructor, she told me to send her any questions that I was confused on or if I found wrong answers in the appendix and she would verify them for me. So I'm feeling a bit more hopeful.

Make sure your instructor doesn't use the Potter & Perry testbank for tests. If there are that many errors on your end, there has to be some with the test bank. If the instructor directed you to the back and will not address the problem, that leads me to believe that the testbank is being used & your instructor isn't aware of the correct answers. Tell the instructor you were using critical thinking, as suggested, when you question on the use of their testbank.

You can add the Perry & Potter Clinical Skills Book to the list. There are errors in the questions and I've found mistakes in the text.

For what it's worth, I used this book the last year I taught LPNs. I found errors in it and thought I was losing my mind! LOL ! I never really liked the book and had I continued to teach, would have had major issues with this book. Good luck to all of you.....:smokin:

We have to do the online evolve module lessons that correspond with the chapters in the book and we have found contradictions between the evolve module lessons and what the textbook says as well.

That book is so old! I know they update it with revisions and future editions but despite how much nursing changes, Potter and Perry remains a staple!

15 years ago I never found any mistakes--gosh I am old.

yes i used this book as well on my first attempt at nursing school the first semester! Thank the lord I graduated this August anyway point is the evolve will be correct if you register your book with them online it will give you or should the answers to the questions in the book go with that version. Oh and potter and perry u will see over and over again in review books for the NCLEX alot of info is used from that book for alot of NCLEX review books!

Your best bet is to contact the publisher of Potter and Perry to inform them of the multiple errors in their books. They are just as responsible and inform them that due to this it will be brought to the Dean of Nursing regarding the errors that are noted in this book. The publisher does not want to loose business if they are aware of this.

Thank you for all the feedback. I am not sure if my professor is using the test bank. I do believe she is, which scares me a bit. My first exam is today.

Also, I'm not clear on how to get to the answer section in Evolve.

Can you explain that to me? My books are registered and I've been using the VitalBookself, but I have been unable to find the end of the chapter NCLEX questions either from the VitalBookself or when I read the text from the Evolve DVD.
