Potter & Perry: Fundamentals 7th Ed. Errors in NCLEX Questions

I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am finding that the Potter & Perry text is a horrible text and the N-Clex Questions at the end of the chapters have the wrong answers. My text also came with a CD with N-Clex questions. The automated answers for these are wrong as well. Does anyone have a link to Errata for this book? I am hoping that there are online corrections posted.

When we addressed this with my professor, she indicated we should "use our critical thinking" to find the right answers. I thought this was an insane comment, as she had consistently directed us to the "end of the chapter questions" to prepare for her exam and we are in week 4 of our first semester.

Thanks for your help!

I have the same textbook, and I agree! Its terrible!.. I also have two other textbooks for different classes and I have found errors in both of them. It ****** me off because then I think I got the wrong answer, when I actually got it right and have to get it clarified by my teacher. Then, on an exam, I get confused because I cant remember what the right answer was that was apparently wrong according to the textbook. It throws me off...:banghead:

This is the book we have. Its worthless. Full of errors, typos and misspellings. Things are misnumbered. Doesn't even have the right number of rights for med adminstration. My instuctor takes her test questions from the test bank and they are so poorly written its ridiculous.

I find it interesting to come across this topic today, because during lecture today, our instructor handed out P&P cds (like the kind that comes in the back of the book) and she said since the text has so many errors, the cd was given by the company to provide the corrected information. I would definately inquire about it if you are not offered one.

Our instructor gave us the revised answers from the publisher. It should be available through the Evolve website also.

I actually like this book - maybe I am weird.

u are right. We use the book at my school and our professor told us about the errors on the cd and back of the book two weeks ago. The company replaced our cd's. If u want accurate problems go on evolve.

The study guide to this book has a lot of typos too, and I do believe my instructor is pulling test questions from the test bank as well.

I hate this book with a passion! The mistakes wreck your confidence when doing the practice questions and it is time-consuming to go back and figure out if you were right or the book. Even now, April 2009, the website has not been corrected. The instructor gave us a printout of mistakes form the back of the book answers and there were DOZENS and DOZENS and I have found even more! Beside the mistakes, the chapters are about as fun to read as a root canal and boring and more effective than sleeping pills. Potter and Perry take 50 pages to state what could have been said in 20. I tried to look though the book for some sort of contact info for feedback but found none. I think I will ask at school for the Evolve rep's contact info. What a tragic, expensive paper weight!

I think this is total nonsense. My school is using this book also, and it appears they're using the entire publishing company's curriculum, including the Powerpoints and the tests. Not only are there mistakes in this book, but there are a ton of mistakes in every other book by this publishing company I've looked at -- e.g. the HESI study guide they put out had factual errors, no superscripts (so 6.022x10 to the 23rd power was written: 6.022x1023), and when I took the actual exam, there were grammar errors and I suspect at least two or three general knowledge (not interpretive) answer errors. If you Google it, you'll find complaints not about passing or failing, but about the book and its content and errors in questions. It terrifies me that my test questions are coming from these people. I don't have a solution. I just am a little bit disgusted that I spent money on this book. It's poorly written, the answers are vague and poorly rationalized, and I've now taken an exam with questions that even the instructor found questionable. I feel sorry for faculty that are forced to use this curriculum...I'm only hoping that there's some reason for it, like that the publishers have a super high NCLEX pass-rate or similar. I don't know. It's frustrating. And to all the faculty who get to have a hand in deciding upon using this book, or others by this publisher: PLEASE THINK TWICE, and make sure you read the book first and see what you're getting yourselves into!
