by Joe V Admin Nov 27, '12Miscommunication happens more often than we like - especially while in school. Sometimes communication between teacher and students get lost. The teacher or the student ends up saying something unexpected which in turn makes everyone laugh. What have you heard or witnessed in school that was funny? Was there ever a time that something was said in class that you couldn't believe that it came out of someone's mouth?

- Nov 27, '12 by CT PixieDuring LPN schooling, one particular student was known for things she said that just made your jaw drop and/or shake your head. One particular thing I recall is her absolutely insisting that if people live together long enough they 'absorb' each others DNA and if tested their DNA would look much like siblings DNA would. Umm, yeah...ok...well they can 'absorb' DNA through exchanged body fluids but they don't then absorb that DNA into their cells! This was a grown woman in her early 40's with children and grandchildren..and she 100% believed what she was saying. Oh, the kicker was...it happens with pets too she claimed...have a pet long enough and the pet starts looking like the owner and vice versa (ok, I have seen some pet owners who do resemble their pets in an odd way..but geeeshhh I doubt they 'absorbed' the pets DNA).

like bacteria do during conjugation! - Nov 27, '12 by SkipsQuote from Wrench PartyxD Good ol' conjugation!

- Nov 28, '12 by Racer15One of my favorites was when we were discussing hepatitis. One of my classmates was confused, and said, "So is hepatitis a virus, or just liver inflammation? What I'm trying to say is, if I punch you in the liver, will you have hepatitis?!"
We were all laughing our butts off at that. - Nov 28, '12 by FDW630Quote from SkipsOf course out of the many dumb things my classmates have asked or said, I cannot think of a single one to post. Eh.xD Good ol' conjugation!
I do have to say though, Skips, that your name and avatar have me rolling. I LOVE that show!
- Nov 28, '12 by PalmHarborMomWe had discussed probiotics in a previous lecture and the professor talked about the yogurts on the market. Move forward a few weeks, the professor stated that probiotics have been known to support vaginal health especially when a woman tends to have recurrent yeast infections. A girl then asked, "How do you get the yogurt in there?"
Here's another one, we were talking about pulmonary embolism's. The professor tried to stress that they can happen any age. She told a story about a reporter that was imbedded in Iraq with the troops. He had been riding in a tank for 18 hours straight. When the tank reached its destination, he started walking around... had a VTE and dropped dead from a pulmonary embolism in his early 30's. A student asked, "So did he get it from being in the water for too long?" The professor couldn't even keep a straight face as she explained that it was an army tank (her words.... you know boom boom) not a fish tank.
At the very least, having students say weird things keeps classes interesting. - Nov 28, '12 by CT PixieQuote from Wrench PartyI must have dozed off during that part of the lecture LOL
