Pay rate for CNA or nurses aid

yes it would be a ginormous step down in pay. The most I have heard of PCT/NA/CNA making is an hourly wage of 11.43 per hour in the Dallas TX area. I imagine other facilities in other areas would be similar. Good luck to you.

I am presently a microbiologist, but I am looking to gain more insight into patient care by becoming a nursing student assistant. Do you have an idea about the payrate for NA in Maryland. I can't take a tremendous step down in pay bc I have a family.

when I worked as a CNA last year, I had a weekend-option job, working every saturday and sunday. My position paid 13.15/hr for day shift, 13.35 for night. base rate for rotating shift CNAs was 10.62/hour, with a 10% differential for nights.

In NC, there are 2 levels for CNA work, and I was a CNA II. The CNA I jobs paid 8.62/hr in most facilities, but my hospital raised hourly wages to 10.00/hr for all employees last year. In this area, LTC pays less than hospital work.

....but here in DC LTC ranges from $9.00-$12.00 depending on the facility. I have a few coworkers who have, or still do work in certain parts of MD, and they have said they made between $8.00-$14.00, with hospitals paying the highest.

Here in Florida, hospital nursing assistants who are students are often offered more pay and a different title for the same work that career NAs do. As a student, I get paid $4 more an hour at one facility, and $6 an hour more at another (plus a differential for nights and weekends) than the PCA who earns a base pay of around $9 an hour. Some hospitals require that you've completed your second semester, others your first. Other hospitals don't recognize the student at all and just pay straight PCA wages.

LTC facilities pay less than hospitals, and I believe require licensure as a CNA.

Palm Beach County area. These are per diem rates. Unfortunately, the down side of per diem in summer slow season is frequent cancellation so it's best to be on staff at a couple of places.

Here in Wyoming, LTC pays MORE than than the hospital..by a good 3-5 bucks an hour, depending on the facility. My base pay is 9.00/hr, with a .50 evening differential and a 1.00 weekend one..so on Saturday nights, I make 11.00/hr.

But yeah, I'd say that is definitely going to be a ginormous pay cut for a microbiologist

A pay cut as well as one of the hardest jobs out there if you ask me as well as one of the most unappreciated by your co-workers & patients. It's a tough job, I commend those who do it.

I was a patient care tech during my last year in school & it's not until now - being on the floor as a nurse do I see just how much help a good tech offers. I think they should be paid more for all they do. Well, at least the ones that make the effort. There's quite a few that know how to do a disappearing act for most of the shift. Good luck to you!

I live in south Jersey and CNA's get paid $8.50-12, depending on the facility and shift.

$13 base pay (only 1 yr experience as a CNA)

$1 differential from 3pm to 11pm and weekends

$2 differential from 11pm to 7am

Best money for a part time job I have heard of around Kansas City area. Full time gets $9, but they also get benefits. But I know I'm only getting this much because I'm a RN student. They don't have a program for students, but I found out what a few of the other CNA's make who aren't students and there is a $3 an hour difference. I'm getting payed the same as a new LPN grad in one case :uhoh21: . They want me to stay after graduation, but I already told them it wouldn't happen. Oh well.

That's me, too. Nope, no way..it's just not where I want to go. They sure are bugging me about it though..that and pressuring me to get my LPN over the summer. Yeah, I know there are a lot of advantages to that, but I can't see forking over the money for it when I'll (God Willing) have my RN in less than a year from now.
