I know there have been a lot of post recently about problems with clinical sites, instructors, classmates, etc. but I want to hear some of the good stuff! What's one thing you like about NS? I'll go first:

I like that no matter what, I have classmates who want to see each other succeed and will do anything they can to help each other out.

I loved the friendships you make. No one can understand what it's like in Nursing School than someone going through it with you!

I love the instructors that really love what they do! The ones who really care for patient safety and enjoyed showing me new things.

I loved learning new things! There wasn't a lecture I didn't learn something new/cool/interesting! And skills lab, I loved the hands on!

I loved leaving my clinical for the day & having a patient tell me I'm going to be an awesome nurse when I graduated. And telling me I made their day better. :)

There's a lot of horror stories (all true! Lol) about nursing school, but there's a lot of fun & excitement there too. Maybe not when you're in it, but definitely when you look back on it after graduation!

I must be lucky. I've enjoyed most of my professors and even the few that I wasn't terribly fond of weren't bad.

I like my classmates too.

Save for the hefty time commitment, I like just about everything about nursing school. I really like that I only have one year left :)

I love absolutely everything that has to do with clinicals! I always have a good time. I love getting to know my patients, learning from my instructor, practicing skills and applying what we are learning in lecture and lab into clinical. I love nursing school and am so excited for this to be my career :)

I LOVE my clinicals. I don't understand why so many people hate them so much. I hear so many people complain about their instructor being too hard on them, but most are just being tough on you so that you can learn better. I tell you when my instructor scolds me on something I never make that mistake again. My clinicals constantly remind me why I work my butt off and have no social life. It's so much fun putting all my learning to work. I learn so much about myself and about nursing. Most importantly the patients are what keep me coming back. Every patient I have talked to so far has a story to tell me and I learn something new from these amazing people everyday. They have truly redefined my reasons for wanting to become a nurse.

LOVE being in clinicals... I love proving myself to the nurses on the floor, especially the ones who seem most reticent to accept nursing students because by the end we're doing well together.

I love knowing that something I did may have made a difference to someone else. I had an older lady who had become incontinent and was so upset that we were cleaning her up stating "never did I think my life would come to this" so we talked about that and since I was trying to get her mind off it we ended up talking dogs (I have 4) and I went to get my phone so I could show her pics of my pooches and every time I saw her after that her face lit up when she saw me cuz I would talk dogs with her. The other night we were expecting a snowstorm and I was saying to another patient how I hoped I wouldn't be stuck in rush hour with it, she started watching the news and the next time I came in she was so glad to see me so she could report when the snow was supposed to start. We are important people in their lives, I know it's not all rainbows and unicorns, but if I can make something special for 5 mins for one person, it's rainbows for me :)

I lucked out with my clinical instructor because she is an amazing teacher and nurse.

My favorite part of clinicals is watching all of the students in the group turn into a sort of dysfunctional family. My other favorite part is watching us begin to "think" like nurses and feel like we accomplished something at the end of the day.

Ha! "Dysfunctional family" totally cracked me up...but it is SO spot-on!! I adore clinicals themselves. This semester, though, I had an instructor who expected you to know everything going in...well, if that were the case we wouldn't be in school ;) I equated this instructor to a PhD teaching an entry-level biology class...you know, the instructors who forget that you've limited experience and get upset when you don't know things that it took them years to learn? It becomes a major get-ya-downer. BUT, I have had awesome experiences with patients, have learned a LOT, have been able to practically apply lab skills, and have really built my confidence this semester.

As an instructor I can say that this semester I have a great group who are really inspirational. I know they will be good nurses

I love my classmates. Even the ones that annoy the absolute crud out of me I know, in the end, we haw each other's backs when push comes to shove.

I'm so sad that we're approaching the end of our journey!

I also love the vast majority of the staff. I'm dealing with a bad egg at the moment, hut overall the dozen has been absolutely amazing

I love how everyone helps each other out in school and in clinicals. I love that, although there are some difficult aspects, there are also really great learning experiences and times when instructors are incredibly helpful. I like those days when I feel like…yeah, maybe I could really be a pretty good nurse!
