I am a freshman nursing student and in my A and P class we have to learn the 12 cranial nerves. I know that there are a couple little sayings out there to help remember them but I do not remember all of the one I heard before. I know the one was a little sick, but I don't care if it helps me to remember them. I would be very appreciative if someone would reply in the forum or in email if anyone knows what I am talking about or where I could find the sayings.

Thank you very much.

We just had our lab final and ours was:

Oh Oh Oh To Touch And Feel Very Gooey Viscera...A H

Which was cool because X is Vagus which controls visceral organs (and that WAS on the test LOL)

Our teacher even encouraged us at the start of the test to jot them down on the back of our papers. Stupid dummy me missed V Trigeminal because I put IV Trigeminal as the answer!:rotfl: LOL even though I had it right on my paper. That's what happens when you just want to get DONE and out of class hehe (It was flooding that day and I was soaking dripping wet and wanted to go HOME)

Was ok tho, still made a final grade of 96!

WTG on your 96! I got a 94 on my exam yesterday - that mnemonic really helped!!! Also my instructor taught us Some Say Marry Money, But My Brothers Say Bad Business Marry Money

To remember whether the nerve is Sensory, Motor, or Both. That totally helped too.

On occasion our trusty truck acts funny very good vehicle any how.

... bumping this one, because i'm studying the cranial nerves for an exam tomorrow...

i was having trouble remembering which o's went with what... and i learned this one at school. it's clean, and it's not as fun to remember, but it's helping me:

old opie occasionally tries triginometry and feels very gloomy vague and hypoactive.

silly, but some of the first few letters go with it, so it fills itself in a little bit. thought i'd share it with any of you that may be learning this during finals week!

btw, i *love* that some marry money... i hadn't heard that before, and it's so helpful!! thanks for sharing!! that's what makes this place so great... :)

I did one for my self...I find mneumonics are only helpful to me if I can relate it to myself or at least put my name in it ( as I have kids...so I am not a virgin...lol...but I am Amy so it helped)

I love the 12 Nerves of the cranium song! It might actually make a little more sense for 1-11 when I get to the point of learning those nerves. For some reason, I understood #12 completely!

I will share these mnemonics with my classmates. ;)

This thread is unbelievable and totally wack, but I have to that admit some of your tips helped me through Ortho Neuro.

:D Amen to that one! The people in my anatomy class laugh at some of the stuff I make up, but let me tell you... whatever it takes to pass!! Even if it means saying some pretty raunchy things...

Our lab group has come up with ALL kinds of stuff to memorize nerves, muscles, layers of skin... you name it! (Sometimes I think we have no shame!)

But we're remembering the material, and getting the grades!

Eh? Pretty good?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:lol2: I love it, Z!

You're sooo not right...

You should put a book together!! *giggle* I could almost guarantee that every nursing student and med student would be lining up to buy it!

Well thank you Katy ! I can't take total credit. The oh oh oh I got from the other members . (((((people))))))

But yeah..we should create a book with mneumonics and ...pictures...hehehe :p

Than NOBODY would forget the cranial nerves. Burned into their brain...neurons !

OK, I loved the twelve cranial nerves song, but it wasn't all I needed. So, I added more information, which in turn cleaned the song up. LOL (Which may make it less memorable. It doesn't flow as much as the real song because I added one line per nerve, but it gets the message across.

-Hope it helps someone! ?
