Low cost/Free Physical Exam, Immunization?

HI, do you know if you can request a physical exam and immunization/vaccine exam at your work place? I already had my TB test done from work. I have no insurance and low income. I've called my local public health and they said its full price regardless and referred me to low cost clinics. Do you anything about the sliding scale or vouchers at clinics? Do you know if W.I.A. pay for medical exams? Also, do you know if OBGYN clinics give free physical exams? I was hoping someone on here can help guide me in the right direction. Thanks

Thanks everyone. You have had shed some light to my burden. I will look into the resources you all have shared. I really appreciate it :-)

If you're in school, talk to the health services there. They often offer free or low-cost physical exams and imms. You can also call Planned Parenthood- they may offer these services (I'm really not sure, but I know they go beyond just paps, STDs and abortions).

Have you applied for MediCal/Partnership? I don't know what your income is, but you may qualify.

@runbabyRN

Yes, I just found out about medi-cal and will be applying for it next month. School is my last resort. Thanks

I'm not sure about the Health Departments where you live, but that's where I got most of my immunizations done throughout my entire life. Family was skirting the poverty line growing up and a lot of my immunizations as a child were free. Now as an adult, I went through them for my Hep B series and TDAP, it has been free thus far. I don't know if it's still going on, but when I started going a few months ago to update my immunizations there was a special government program or something going on where if you took a small survey you could get some of your immunizations for free.

Health Departments are generally where a lot of people who are low-income or new mothers go. Even if they couldn't help you, your local Health Dept. might be able to point you in the right direction. Also unsure if they do physicals for adults. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Good day, tasha92337:

I've been going to CostCo (you don't have to be a member to utilize their pharmacy services) for immunizations. At least in our area, they are far less (sometimes by 50%) less expensive than Wallmart, CVS, etc. BTW, in our area, CVS typically has extremely high prices compared to other sources. For titer tests, I've used Any Lab Test Now. I'm not sure on an actual health assessment.

Thank you.

Thanks everyone for your help and wonderful suggestions. I just spoke with my WIA advisor and he informed me that its possible that WIA could be used for the exams if a county voucher is accepted. He will find out and let me know. I hope it gets approve and will help me so much.

Good luck to you Tasha, don't let this scare you, there is always a way. My orientation for first sem freaked the people out who didn't have health coverage at the time (this was prior to the Obamacare act) - turns out the school offered discounted physicals and lab work for students through the school nurse and they had the number/contact for a low cost health insurance plan that students could purchase to meet the health coverage requirement for clinical. I mean it was pretty bootleg, it was one of those pay-per-month plans, where if you were to get hurt, it basically covered nothing. But it was still health insurance, and the program knew what it was, and it met the requirement for students who needed insurance at a low cost.

Thanks!

I've learned there is always a bright side after a setback so I'm good. Right now, I'm going to focus on nailing this lvn interview and take it one step at a time.
