Looking for study suggestions during long commute

Hi,

I'll be travelling roundtrip about 2.5 hrs to 3 hours when I start school in May. Does anyone have any study suggestions so I can use that time productively?

Thanks,

Kris

Tape your lectures and replay them on the drive, or record your notes and play them as well. I play my lectures and it helps me to hear things I may have missed the first time or clear up something I was not sure of.

HTH!

That really is an awesome idea. I too have a long commute, and all though it maybe not the best or safe idea, I write key points (just 1- 2 lines) on little flash cards, and keep them beside me. If I hit traffic, or come to a stop, wait for the school bus to pass, etc.I whip one out and read it. Sometimes, I just pretend I'm giving a lecture on the subject, and talk out load. Another thing I would do, is tape myself, sometimes in class, my tape would not come out so great due to background noise. So I would tape myself at home, re- reading and adding comments to the day before lectures; and listen to that on the way in. Good luck

Yeah I tape my lectures and play them, record my notes on my tape player and play those, and I tape my mnenomics (uh, sp?) and use that to memorize. Dont READ stuff while driving, its dangerous! ;)

You could also do this..tape yourself asking ?s and then give a pause...or maybe play Jeopardy music in the pause....that gives you time to answer the ? yourself. then after the pause/music record the answer....you could quiz yourself this way!!! Just be sure you are not going to be too mad if you are getting some wrong and transfer that energy into road rage

oh yeah, I should have added too...it really is an idea only if you are the kind of person that can concentrate on driving and thinking about something else at the same time

Can you carpool? If so, it would be great to quiz each other during the commute. Otherwise, listening to taped lectures or even yourself asking questions are great ideas.

I have a 100+ mile one-way commute and I've done both of the above suggestions to tape/listen to lectures as well as making quiz tapes for myself.

I do better on exams when I listen to my quizzes on the way to the test (it's two hours of studying/review just prior!).

When I can't stand listening to more school, I sometimes get audio books from my local library. Sometimes I listen to NPR too. Trying not to fall asleep on early mornings is my biggest problem & music puts me back to sleep. A friend of mine suggested Fireballs. I was thinking about http://joltgum.com/ but I never bought any (and after three looonnnggg years, I just have a few more weeks finally!!!!!!!!!!). If I drink the caffeine, it makes me pee and there aren't many places to stop on my trip but cow fields and orange groves!! Has anyone ever had Jolt gum?

Carpooling would be great. I always wish there were a train... the things I could do with all that time!!
