longest class times ever

Nursing Students General Students

What are some of your schedules? This semester just began for me and I am about to lose my mind already. It seems like we are in class all the time. I don't know how I am ever going to juggle this all semester! Anyone else feel overwhelmed? I have class 22 hours next week and I am not considered a full time student with that! It is ridiculous. I am in an ADN program and my second semester nursing class I am currently in is only considered 9 credit hours :angryfire I am trying to stay positive and on top of things but it feels like I am already falling behind.

Specializes in RNC in OB and experience in Peds.

I am in an LPN program and I have class M-F 8:00am - 2:30pm (So about 32.5 hrs a week).

Doesn't bother me.

I am in an LPN program as well, and we go M-F 7:30am- 3:30pm. Thats 40 hours a week. I am doing good, doesn't bothe rme at all. I love it!!!

Twenty hours is not a lot. Most LPN programs go 8 hours a day -40 hours a week. Twenty two is about how many hours I go to school and clinicals a per week and that's really just part time as far as hours if you compare it to a job.

Specializes in Education, Administration, Magnet.

I am also in the ADN program second semester and my nursing classes are 20 hours a week. I am also taking health chemistry which is 5 hours a week with lab. It does not bother me, as long as I have my family under control.:chuckle That's the hard part. But I only work on weekends.

Specializes in Surgery - some medicine.

I don't know, with clinical I come to 31 hours a week and I'm full time...all I would complain about is the endless seeming amount of reading we have to do!

I agree with that. The reading is the only reason why I switched from 40 hr. to 24 hr. a week.

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

32 hours my second year of LPN school.

I was not really complaining about the # of hours, but rather the fact that I am not considered a full time student. Is this what others are seeing? Our director is trying to consider letting our program be full time. When I look at my other college friends who have 8 hours of class per week and are still full time this seems a little off. We also have 2 full clinical days per week. I do not know any other college major that puts this much time into a major and doesn't get the "privilege" of being a full time student in order to recieve the financial and scholarship awards. The credit hours are supposed to be equal to the number of hours you are in class per week, but I guess that nursing is excluding from this at my school....anyone else?

Yes I agree...the reading is also a huge part of it too!

Yeah, our clinical is one credit hour, but we go for six hours! Our skills lab is 2 and a half hours and we get one credit for it.

Hey, I feel ya. It sucks. It is backwards as far as credit hours goes. Don't know why!!

I hear ya! I am in my last semester ADN & I have 33hrs a week. Plus I drive 2hrs one way to clinicals & 1hr just to get to class. It seems llike every other day its a test, quizz or some type of research paper/project is due!!! May 12th can't get here quick enough!
