Juggling family, money, and school???

I have been so stressed about school, money and family lately, I am about to drive myself crazy! I have 3 children, only 1 in school, so daycare is too expensive right now to work FT.

I returned to school last semester, and took a couple of night classes. That was great, but now no more night classes are offered at all, just day classes.

We make enough money now just to pay our bills, and not much left over. My school is covered by grants, and I am taking a loan to cover books and stuff, but how do you guys survive "life"!!! I don't mean to sound nosy, but some days I feel like I must be the only broke person on the planet!!! I know that's not true, but every bump in the road I come across has to do with finances. I hate that. I want to get a PT evening job, but my husband is on call alot, and it rotates, so I cannot get a set schedule for a night job. I just drive myself crazy sometimes trying to figure everything out.

Could use a little wisdom from someone here!!! (hehe) :sniff: :crying2

:o

Believe me you are not alone... I just got told from my school that financial aid will not cover everything and that I have to pay some money out of pocket... After I was told that everything would be paid for and I had took out a loan for living expenses (now that is going towards tuition as well) If it wasn't for hubby I woudl've just given up right about now...:o

Just hang in there and hugs to everyone

nursing101 - that is exactly what happened to me. I was taking night classes at a CC, and because I had alot of hours from like 10 years ago, it made me over the limit for a 2 year school, so no aid, didn't even qualify for loans because of it. So I am having to start days alot sooner than what I had wanted to. But, you guys are so right, it will all work out. I will just have student loans out the @** when I graduate!!!

Wow! What a big boat!! You know what though? It will work out. Try to think ahead two months. When you are in a class, you will think, "What was I so worried about?"

My husband is also self-employed and his work tends to be seasonal. Summers are usually tighter than the rest of the year. God always comes through.

We are caught in a catch 22. It cost too much in child care expenses to justify working. The more you work the more it cost. Just hang in there. There is a verse in the Bible; I'm not sure where it is found, but it says,"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and supplication, make your wants known unto God." That may not be exactly word for word, I don't have my Bible with me. Another says,"Casting all your cares upon Him for He cares for you." Has anyone ever heard a minister say that it is a sin to worry? OOOPS!

;) welcome to the broke and stressed club, ashemson!!! I am in the same boat as well. I know your pain, hon! I have taken out a student loan to help me get by for the next two years. Maybe that would help you. I have a two year old, husband, juggling school and working a part time job:coollook:

I know things may seem rough right now but just think of the reward at the end of the road...YOUR CAREER AS A NURSE! Things will shape up and all this stress you have been under will be relieved!! I wish you the best of luck!!

rhona, there is plenty of room for you on the boat !!..lol.. your story sounds a lot like mine.. my husband doesn't have 2 jobs but he works really hard, sometimes i think i'm not worthy of him.

;)

I get so tired of my family saying when you graduate you will be able to take care of all of us. And I am saying what about now!!!!!!

I just had a bomb shell dropped on me. I will not be able to get into the nursing program here until August 2003 and I was planning on getting in January 2002. We do not have enough nursing instructors. Boo!HOO!!

So now I am going to have to wait, which we really cannot afford or we are going to have to sacrifice and relocate. I do not know what to do. But we have to keep talking to ourselves because if you focus or look at the situation to long; you will just drop to the floor and start kicking and screaming and then the paddy wagon will be coming to get us. LOL

But seriously, Life has its unexpected twists and turns and we just have to roll with the flow. Everyday we get closer and closer to our dream. So just hold on change is coming.

keep your head up "THE BEST IS YET TO COME"

shunda, that stinks that you can't get in... many of my friends are finding out the same thing in our area... either so many people are applying or there aren't enough instructors.

keep the positive attitude, it always helps doesn' t it?

our boat is big enough for all.

:nurse:

We have to think positive if not you will cave in to all of those negative feelings and that is really to much to bear.

The reason the nurses are not applying for those positions here in our area is because of the pay. They do not want to pay the nursing instructors anything. You have to have a masters degree and they want to pay them 30,000 a year. They are saying forget it.
