I need help coming up with a suggestion for a graduation song. I know, I know it sounds like high school, but that's the tradition so I'm determined to make it a good one.
Some suggestions have included a song by R. Kelly (an accused sex offender), another one about suicide, and several by bands us 40+ students have never even heard of.
Does anyone have a song that would appeal to the younger crowd and not make us old folks cringe? :imbar
Thanks!

The song is called Graduation and its sung by Vitamin C. Pretty cool song...and catchy! But its highschooly and probably already been done to death.

Okay, if you are allowed a humorous song: "We are the Champions" by Queen. We used this at my vocational school's graduation (tongue-in-cheek of course) and it was a hoot. Of course we all were a pretty crazy bunch.
If you want to be serious, I suggest the song "No Man is an Island." Joan Baez. It talks about how each person needs each other and helping each other out without being overly sappy. I think relates very well to nursing if used in the context.
Thanks y'all. I really appreciate your input.

I remember the class that graduated the year before us used "Wind Beneath My Wings" sung by Bette Midler.
I had to go look up our class's song in our program from 1993, and it was "These Are the Days to Remember". I did a Google search with that title and it says it was performed/written by 10,000 Maniacs. I don't know if this is the song without hearing it, but the words sound like a graduation song:
These are days you'll remember.
Never before and never since, I promise,
will the whole world be warm as this.
And as you feel it,
you'll know it's true
that you are blessed and lucky.
It's true that you are touched by something
that will grow and bloom in you.
When May is rushing over you
with desire to be part of the miracles
you see in every hour.
You'll know it's true
These are days.
These are the days
you might fill with laughter until you break.
These days you might feel a shaft of light
make its way across your face.
And when you do
you'll know how it was meant to be.
See the signs and know their meaning.
It's true, you'll know how it was meant to be.
Hear the signs and know
they're speaking to you, to you.

* Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up (New song, But very moving)
*Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World (Aaaw so pretty, always
brings tears to my eyes)
* The Beatles - In My Life (It's the Beatles, need I say more?)
*Frank Sinatra - My Way (LOL, that one was kinda a joke, but a good one
for a laid back pal around bunch of grads)
It's late, I can't think of anymore. I will come back if I think of other songs. Hope this helped a little, teheehee.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha, lol. That is absolutely classic. I will be keeping this one in mind for our pinning ceremony. Depends on what kind of bunch we have this year though. LOL, love that song.

"I Hope You Dance" by... Lee Ann Rimes, maybe? please correct me if I'm wrong, I've been up way too late and that name doesn't sound right... but it is a wonderful song. that is what we had for high school graduation and it was beautiful.
I think it was actually Leanne Womack that sang that :) Real Close :)
