Hi, I was just wondering how many people were under the age of 25. I guess it would be nice to know that others my age are going through this. Just write in and tell everyone a little about yourself like when you graduate, start, family, etc.

Okay, I will start. My name is Teresa and I am in an associates degree program. I graduate next May and I am very interested in L&d or postpardum. I am 19 years old (20 when I graduate) and I am getting married in December. Okay, good luck to everybody!!

Great idea starting this thread Teresa. Congratulations on your getting married at the end of the year!

My stuff...My name is Zach, I'm 23 and going through an ADN program in Western WA. I'm only in second quarter but have had the goal of nursing for about two years now and despite all the horror stories, it's still my pursuit and passion!

I am not married and am not planning on a serious relationship until I finish school. I have a supportive family and although we have our problems, I can count on them for support without which this nursing school would be hard to complete.

Welcome to all newcomers!

hello~ i am a freshman at this board. let me introduce my self briefly. My name is Wynne. i am 23 years old. i was graduated from a medical college in Taiwan at 2000. Although the nursing system here is very different from our country, i am very glad to meet the other nursing students like u in the internet.:D Good luck to everyone~

Hey!

okay.

I am 19 years old, I will graudate from an ADN program in May, but won't be 20 until september. I am VERY interested in pediatric oncology, am considering a job oppurtunity in a cancer research hospital near my hometown. I live with my parents, they are great, i couldn't make it through school without their support.

Do you guys find that you are the minority, age wise, in your programs? The age range goes from me-a 58 y/o man....with the majority of the students being around 45.

*OH and i work at walmart, hence the username, i don't just really like to shop there, as someone once asked

Specializes in Perinatal/neonatal.

I wish I was still 25! (Ok, I really wish I was 18, but know what I know NOW!) I do fall somewhere in the median age for nursing students, but will probably be completely gray headed by the time I FINALLY finish with my education. That's cool though. :D

Happy Nursing~Angie

Great thread!!

Here is a little bit about me :)

My name is Brandy (as if you couldnt guess that ;)) and I am 22 years old. I am a finishing senior in a BSN program, graduating on May 19th. I came to college straight out of high school, lived on campus for 2 years, and then moved to an offcampus apartment. I have already accepted a position as a graduate nurse in Emergency/Critical Care/PCU and I will be starting in June at a hospital back in my home area. my fiance and I are getting married in August 2002, and we are currently in the process of buying a house back in my home area.

Guess that about sums up me for now :)

Well, My name is Tonya I am 22 y/o. I have a four year old daughter. I started college right when I graduated from high school. Took a year off and got back into the groove off things. So I should have been done this May but I will be done in May 2003 but I am getting there. I am in a BSN program. I am currently looking at Labor/delivery, postpartum or pediatrics. I started out as a Journalism major and when I had my daughter The labor/delivery/postpartum nurses actually inspired me to go into nursing and think about Labor/delivery because they were so judgemental and no one needs or deserves that. I live with my parents and with out them there would probably be no possible way I would be making it through nursing school. Clinicals are so early in the morning and many daycare centers are not even open by the time I have to go to clinicals so my parents are a blessing and take my daughter to school when I have clinicals. They also keep her when I have my night class. I was in a relationship but that started interrupting things with school so I decided the best thing for me now is to remain single until I am done with school and then wait (they say it happens when you stop looking and when you least expect it to anyway, usually not when you are actively looking.

Walmart ADN in my program I am in the majority most of the students are 20-26 BUT that is mainly because it is a BSN program that is private and pretty expensive and the program actively recruit starting at high school age. It has a summer nursing camp for sophomore and junior high school students. I think the public BSN programs in my city see more of a age variety but not at the one I am at.

Well I debated on whether or not to reply.. Cause I am 25 :)hehehe Will be 26 in July.... And actually I am probably at the young end of the class age spectrum... This is my first semester in the ADN program, actually my 2nd week.. Things are going well... Stress level is slowly but surely growing.. and the caffeine doesn't work for me, so I may have to turn to beer :)heheheh No kids, just a husband and two cats, and at times they are worse than kids :p

Good luck to everyone....

I'm right there with you nurse2b...I'm 25 and will be 26 in july as well...the 9th in fact. I'm also married with cats (5 of the fur hockers!!) I just started the first week of my ADN program. I'm a returning student...I received my BA in English almost 3 years ago and am not satisfied with where I'm going professionally. I mean who really is satisfied with nowhere??? :p Anyway...I have most of the pre req's done...I just need to finish a few more before I can officially call myself a nursing student. :D

Hey- My name is Amanda. i am 20 y/o. i will be 21 in july. i thought it was kinda funny that i will be able to dispense narcotics before i can legally drink!! but anyways, i am in my last semester of my ADN program. :) I live @ home c my parents. My boyfriend and i are getting married in August, 2003. i think i am the youngest person in my class. glad to know there's more of you all on the same boat!! good luck to all!!

I'm 20 in a BSN program......will become a nurse anesthetist......what is a ADN program?......what will you title be when you graduate from that?.....I heard of it just never knew what it was......

Future CRNA

I am twice as old as you all are, but I will answer the ADN question. It is an Associate Degree Nursing program, that takes (give or take a semester or two) two years.

Thanks for letting me butt in.
