Iam in clinicals and have 4 months to go and into med surg---and iam so stressed I want to quit--please tell me this is normal because Iam on the edge of calling it quits....:heartbeat

Please don't quit. Hang in there! I also felt that way last November because I was working full-time and trying to do 13 twelve hour shifts for my preceptorship. I would come home and just cry because I was so exhausted. I am happy to say that I graduated from my ADN program in December and last week, I passed state boards and I am officially an RN. It was all worth it in the end!!

I think that most all of us have wanted to quit, at one time or another. Hang in there! Yes it is hard, but you didn't get where you are by only doing the easy stuff. You can do it!!!:yeah:

The only time I don't consider dropping out is during the 12 hours I'm with patients. :]

I think most of us have felt like that a time or two!!!! I am feeling that way TODAY too!! I'm dealing with work, 2 kids, a whiney husband, just got injured in an accident which is really not good working on the units :( Hang in there, we WILL get through it!!!!!

I am in medsurg right now, and honestly, could cry at this very moment. My eyes burn because I am so exhausted, and Im starting to get a headache. I AM SO FREAKIN TIRED!

So, oh yeah... I feel that way right now. But when all is said and done, I know that I wont actually quit because its too hard-- I'll just have a good cry, check out allnurses.com, and hope for some encouragement :D

GOOD LUCK! (Dont quit.)

I sometimes feel like quiting & I wonder everyday why I want to be a nurse. I actually told that to my aunt, whose been a nurse for 30 yrs & she told me,"When you figure that our let me know, then may be I'll know why I became a nurse." I love my pateints, I just hate school!

yes I've had senioritis for 3 years!!

Alot of the time, but then I think of all the hard work, sacrifice on both my family and me, plus my desire to be a nurse, and it ALWAYS outweighs the bad!!!

I hope feeling like quitting is normal. Remember you are not alone! Sadly I am in my first week of Med Surg2...and I am also contemplating quitting but just try to keep your chin up and remember why you wanted to be a nurse in the first place and try not burn your self out!!

Good luck and may you have a better week!

Hang in there you can do it. I'm exactly where you are in the program and I actually felt the same way this week. I think we have all felt this way a time or two. I'm taking my LPN boards this summer and if that is all I can do at this time, that is fine with me. Yesterday my youngest daughter told me I have to do something about the big bags under my eyes!! Just think of all you have accomplished so far and how great it will be when you are done. Good luck.

It's gotta be normal. I'm in 2nd semester (med/surg) It can be so overwhelming! I think when all is said & done I will need both psych & GI consult! :)

I've had friends & family members that are nurses say they wouldn't trade places w/me for money, because they remember how rough it is. I hope to make it through this to the light & the end of a tunnel & be the one encouraging other students to keep chipping away at it & get what they want, like so many close to me & the posts on here have done for me.

The day we turned in our apps was the point of no return, we had already done a lot of work just getting in! Keep on trucking & don't give up!
